00:00Well, a new, new, fresh villain that's going to be around for a while has emerged in Wemby,
00:06and Victor Wembenyana, and I can't say that all of it is unearned.
00:12We can show some of the examples of his villainy so far.
00:16You see the elbow to the left, you see the mushing in the middle,
00:21and we see the cat, the other flagrant foul that he had the other day.
00:26So, Wemby is earning his villain status to the point where these big, tough Knicks fans
00:31are calling for him to be arrested for not kicking OG Ananobi.
00:37I'm just saying, New York fans, if you're going to jump on Spurs fans like you're tough,
00:42you can't ask for a guy to be arrested for not kicking one of your players.
00:46Oh, he was kicking him. Oh, he should be arrested.
00:49That's an automatic assault. If you don't shut your soft ass up,
00:53when did Knicks fans get so soft with this?
00:56But, Wemby brings it out of you. Why? Because he's a villain.
00:59And I love it, okay? I'm just going to say it out loud.
01:02I love a good villain. Why do I love a good villain?
01:05Because there's no story without the villain.
01:08Yesterday I had my Star Wars shirt on, right?
01:11If you go back to the original trilogy, you got nothing without Darth Vader.
01:15You got nothing without the Emperor, okay?
01:17You need the villain for the stories to work.
01:21You need somebody that you can root against just as much as you need somebody you can root for.
01:27David versus Goliath doesn't work if it's Goliath versus Goliath or it's David versus David.
01:32You need, so this goes back to the Bible.
01:35You need both sides of it, okay?
01:38And yes, Wemby has done some villainous things.
01:41But this crying the blues, you know how much more boring a 3-1 series would be if you didn't
01:47have that villain?
01:48You know as a New York Knicks fan, for all the Knicks fans out there, it's sweeter when you hate
01:52somebody.
01:53You remember Knicks fans when you used to hate Michael Jordan before you worship him like you do now?
01:57You used to hate him. I mean, no self-respect whatsoever.
02:00All these Knicks fans, like Ethan, like Craig, that hated him in the 90s, who now go, he's the greatest.
02:06You hated Michael Jordan.
02:08He was the villain back in the day, and now you kiss up to him and it's pathetic, okay?
02:13And you'll be doing the same thing with Wemby down the road.
02:15Wemby's good for the game.
02:17And despite the fact that right now people hate him, you know that him being available, 22,
02:24which means you're going to be hating him for at least another decade.
02:26And that's being conservative.
02:28It's likely going to be longer.
02:29But health permitting, you're going to hate this guy for a full decade, and it makes things better, okay?
02:37You guys can show this, okay?
02:39Think about your sports fandom, and then think about this group of people over the years,
02:44and tell me, and you can go ahead and put it up, this hasn't made things make you like sports
02:49more.
02:50You didn't have enjoyment.
02:51Now, this all depends on your age.
02:53You don't enjoy, when you were watching Duke, rooting against Christian Laettner, okay?
02:59Look at some of these.
03:01Pete Rose.
03:02I've rooted against Pete Rose my whole life.
03:04Pete Rose played for the Phillies at one point.
03:07I root against them.
03:08You look at these villains on the screen, and you know good and well, okay, that villains make sports better.
03:17Villains are good for the game, okay?
03:20For every good guy, the only way the hero wins is by thwarting a bad guy.
03:27Jalen Brunson is the toast of the town in New York City.
03:30I do not believe that he is the MVP of this series so far.
03:33In my opinion, it's OG Ananobi.
03:35But the little fella, the little six-foot guard going against the seven-foot-five villain has made this series
03:42more fun, okay?
03:44So, while you can hate him, it's got to get to the point where you love to hate him, where
03:50you love to hate him.
03:51Because this is what it's really all about, okay?
03:55This sports, in a way, is always theater.
03:59Yes, slamming the door was on.
04:01Theater, okay?
04:03Theater.
04:03I don't know if you heard that, but it was weird.
04:05Theater, okay?
04:07It's part of it.
04:07The story has always been part of it.
04:10When Michael Jordan makes those shots at 97 and 98 over Russell, it's the player that is considered at that
04:16time the greatest player to ever live, playing perhaps his final basketball game.
04:21He makes the game-winning shot to win the title.
04:24Wow.
04:25The story is – because the jump shot is just a basic mid-range jump shot.
04:29We see that a million times.
04:30And he pushed off.
04:31And he pushed off.
04:33And he pushed off, okay?
04:35And I will go to my grave and say that he pushed off.
04:37Should have been an offensive foul.
04:38And maybe we get to a game seven, okay?
04:41And who knows what Karl Malone does.
04:42And we might look at this whole thing differently if the refs do their job.
04:45But anyway, Jordan makes it because that's the better story.
04:49So, I think that the victor when Benyana hate has now gotten to a point where it's gone too far.
04:56What I mean by that is when fans call for his arrest, even if you think he should be suspended
05:01for a basketball game,
05:02I'm not going to argue with you about that.
05:04He has done dirty basketball things.
05:06But he hasn't done anything to actually assault anybody.
