00:00UMNO Youth Chief Dr. Akmal Saleh has hinted at his party reviving its cooperation with PAS

00:07under a different pact instead of their defunct Muafakat National Alliance.

00:13While UMNO President Ahmad Zahid Hamidi earlier ruled out reviving MN,

00:18Akmal said efforts to establish Malay-Muslim political unity could take place under a different platform.

00:25He said that unity can be achieved through a platform using any name,

00:31all the more when the name Muafakat National has already been registered by others as an NGO.

00:38He added that the name isn't important, what's more important is reaching an understanding

00:44and common purpose or direction in uniting Malay-Muslims.

00:48The MN alliance between UMNO and PAS was formalized in 2019 when Pakatan Harapan led the federal government.

00:57The pact collapsed after PAS formed Perikatan National with Bersatu the following year.

01:04Speculation over a possible revival of the pact has surfaced again

01:08now that PAS has severed political ties with Bersatu.
