The record-challenging heat will bring strong to severe storms later in the week.
Transcript
00:00Heat and humidity are building in the northeast and strong to severe thunderstorms will be bubbling up, driven by that
00:06somewhat sultry air late this week.
00:09Air conditioners are going to be running on high, high energy demand over the next few days.
00:13And some areas will be flirting with record highs, Richmond, Virginia, Wilmington, Delaware, Philadelphia, all likely to tie daily record
00:21highs for Thursday.
00:22And Friday, we've got more heat out there, probably breaking records in areas like Raleigh, North Carolina, Hagerstown, Maryland, Harrisburg.
00:30Scranton should smash a record high as well.
00:32Now, with the heat and humidity, we have a couple of weak disturbances rolling from west to east across the
00:37Great Lakes region.
00:38And to the south of there, we will see strong storms develop Thursday.
00:41A lot of the storms will be across the interior initially, and then they'll roll to the coast late in
00:46the day in through the evening, with damaging winds the main concern.
00:49We're going to see something similar happen again on Friday.
00:52Friday, storms could be just a little bit stronger for the I-95.
00:57So we've got to keep an eye on both days, with severe weather likely across much of the northeast.
