Extreme meteorologist Dr. Reed Timmer is in Carthage, Illinois, where a tornado warning is in effect as of the late afternoon of June 11.
Transcript
00:00We are tracking a tornado-worn supercell approaching the Carthage area.
00:04Right now it's trying to undergo some cell mergers, one after another, as it continues to grow in mass.
00:10And you can hear the tornado sirens in Carthage back behind me as this continues to merge with these storms
00:16off to the south.
00:16Eventually, this is going to become an HP monster supercell, likely capable of producing even strong tornadoes.
00:23And you can hear the sirens sounding as this storm is organizing right here.
00:27We've already had a well-defined funnel cloud near the Keokuk area.
00:31And we are tracking this storm, waiting for the tornado to touch down to intercept it for science.
00:36Definitely a potential for EF2 and stronger tornadoes today.
00:40Giving the magnitude of the low-level winds here.
00:42We have to have a long RFD wrapping around this circulation right now.
00:46Likely making a run for tornado genesis right underneath this wall cloud.
00:50You can see the stretching happening with the increased low-level winds, the uptrap.
00:54Feeding into that low-level meso cyclone.
00:57Wrap it up!
00:58Connective!
