Um Actually S11E11 Tournament of Champions 26 Part 3 engsubtitle fullmovie⚡️🎥
Transcript
00:00From Goku to Nomu, nerds are passionate about a lot of things, but there's one thing they
00:03love above all else, and that is correcting people.
00:06This is I'm Actually.
00:20Join us on today's episode, we have Brennan Lee Mulligan, Erika Ishii, and Danielle Radford.
00:28Oh, hi, I didn't see you there.
00:30And join us as always from his fact checker room, we have Brian David Gilbert.
00:33Hello, hello.
00:34And how's that jumpsuit treating you?
00:36I'm a vision in blue.
00:37Well, without the winningest champion, me as a reminder, in the pool of contestants, we
00:42need to find who our new champion is by a new metric that I've made up because I run the
00:47show now.
00:48As an anime fan, I love a tournament arc.
00:50So welcome to the Tournament of Champions.
01:01We will find out, once and for all, who is the principal pedant.
01:06So are we just here for show?
01:07No, no, I want you to win.
01:09Well.
01:09Yeah.
01:10Brennan, my once rival, now a contestant on the show I host.
01:14You know, so I have your backs.
01:16Your back is a knife block.
01:19I welcome the unfairness as it increases the share of glory.
01:25All right, all of you have been on the show before, but I will repeat the rules.
01:29I have here a stack of statements.
01:31These are incorrect statements about properties that you know and love.
01:34It is up to you to figure out what is wrong, buzz in, and correct me.
01:37But all your corrections must start with the phrase, I'm actually, or I can't give you
01:41the point.
01:41As a matter of fact, someone can buzz in, say I'm actually, and steal that answer from
01:45you.
01:45You're free to interrupt me at any time.
01:47And that's about it.
01:49This is the Tournament of Champions, so these will be spicier.
01:52So, let's begin with our first statement.
01:56During the Battle of Minas Tirith in Lord of the Rings, The Return of the King, a lieutenant
02:00orc named Grond quickly became a fan favorite.
02:03He had his own battle cry in the film, with orcs chanting, Grond, Grond, Grond, as they
02:08broke down the gates and inspired a Reddit, Grondbot, that replied to any comment that
02:13mentioned Grond with the word, Grond.
02:16Um, actually, Grond is not the name of the lieutenant orc.
02:21That is correct.
02:23That is correct.
02:23Could you be more specific?
02:24Do you know exactly what Grond was?
02:26Um, actually, Grond is the battering ram.
02:29That is correct.
02:31Ha ha ha!
02:31Ha ha ha!
02:32Baby, you started with Return of the King!
02:34Let's go!
02:35Yes, Grond was the battering ram carved in to look like a wolf's head, said to be 60 feet
02:40high and 150 feet long.
02:42In the film, fire burned out of his mouth.
02:44Sauron named Grond after the great hammer of his predecessor, Morgoth.
02:49The orc lieutenant in that movie that you're referencing, though, the one who's like, the
02:53age of the orc is here.
02:54Yeah.
02:55Isn't there a thing where they, like, on set called him Harvey or something like that?
03:00Because they hated Harvey Weinstein so much.
03:02Oh!
03:03That's so funny.
03:05I'll look this up real quick.
03:06I think I remember hearing something like that.
03:09The orc that I always remember is, meat's back on the menu, boys!
03:12And you're like, how do you know what a menu is?
03:14Yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:14They have restaurants!
03:16They have restaurants in Middle Earth!
03:17No, no, yeah, yeah.
03:18The prancing pony!
03:20Their restaurants predate the existence of menus, okay?
03:23There were restaurants that did not have printed menus in existence for hundreds of years
03:27before the first menu was printed, which I believe was in the 1700s in France?
03:31But that's not Middle Earth, though, is it?
03:33Most of my Lord of the Rings knowledge comes from playing Lord of the Rings online.
03:38And don't orcs just get created from, like, some soup, like, evil soup or something?
03:43Those are the Uruk-hai, but orcs are actually elves that have been corrupted and tortured enough
03:51to, I guess, change their genetics.
03:53Based on this description, orcs are just elves that are into BDSM.
03:57I just want to say that, yes, one of the orc masks was modeled after Harvey Weinstein.
04:02I don't know which specific one, because I don't think they, like, pointed it out at any point in time.
04:07But also, most of them look like Harvey Weinstein.
04:10So I don't think it's that big of an issue.
04:13Also, just thinking about this question, do all of the orcs have names?
04:18Yes.
04:18That makes me feel bad about them a little more.
04:21I think knowing that they all have names.
04:22Yeah, orcs are people.
04:24They have menus.
04:25They have a strong food culture.
04:27In my head, I was just like, yeah, well, they're all called orc, I guess.
04:30I never really considered it, and now it's making me feel bad.
04:33In the books, they get deep into the culture of, like, how the Uruk-hai of Isengard don't fuck with
04:39the Mordor orcs,
04:40who are themselves not that into the sort of Misty Mountain orcs.
04:44You know, these fascist coalitions can have fractures.
04:47Yeah, well, that is a point for Brennan Lee Mulligan, and that was the exact amount of time I thought
04:53we'd spend on Lord of the Rings bander.
04:56Oh, I got more.
04:57Oh, I know.
04:58I got more orc facts.
04:59Yeah, that's why I'm just moving on to the next statement.
05:03Always a bridesmaid and never the bride, Willem Dafoe has appeared in three vampire movies as a human.
05:09In Shadow of the Vampire as real-life actor Max Schreck, the original Nosferatu,
05:13in Daybreakers as cured former vampire Lionel Cormac,
05:17and most recently in Nosferatu as Professor Albin Ebenhard von Franz.
05:21Um, actually, he did not appear as a cured former vampire in Daybreakers.
05:28He did?
05:28He did.
05:29He did.
05:30Danielle.
05:31Um, actually, in Shadow of the Vampire, he did not play real-life actor Max Schreck.
05:35Max Schreck is actually the villain in Batman Returns.
05:38He is both the villain in Batman Returns and a real-life actor.
05:42Yeah, yeah.
05:43Um, actually, Willem Dafoe has been in more than three vampire movies as a human.
05:48Well, I just want to say he's appeared in perhaps the most important vampire film of all time,
05:53Cirque du Freak, The Vampire's Assistant,
05:55based on that young adult novel series starring John C. Reilly as the main vampire.
06:02But he is a vampire in that one.
06:03We just didn't include that because he's in a vampire movie as a vampire.
06:06These are ones where he appears as a human.
06:08Okay.
06:09Um, actually, his character's name is not Professor Albin Eberhard von Franz in Nosferatu.
06:16It is Professor Albin Eberhard von Franz in Nosferatu.
06:20Swing and a miss.
06:20What more is there? There are no more proper nouns in the sentence.
06:23All right, then I guess we'll call it there.
06:25The correction we were looking for is,
06:27the real-life actor Max Schreck is portrayed as a vampire in Shadow of the Vampire.
06:32Whoa!
06:33Can you sue for that? No.
06:35He's very dead.
06:36Yeah.
06:36So, I guess maybe his estate would have sued.
06:38That's how a vampire works.
06:39You can turn real-life historical figures into undead, and that's normal.
06:44Yeah.
06:45All right, so that's no points for anyone.
06:47We'll move on to our next statement.
06:50In Dune lore, guild navigators are byproducts of humans having consumed massive amounts of spice melange.
06:57They use a highly conditioned form of prescience to safely steer the ships through space,
07:02and can also enhance others' prescience.
07:05In the books, their bodies get elongated, but in David Lynch's Dune, he portrays them as bloated.
07:11After the movie came out, the later books employed Lynch's bloated image of the guild navigators.
07:16Um, actually, they consume more than just the spice melange.
07:22I believe the water of life is also necessary to create guild navigators.
07:26The main situation here is just pumping them full of that spice.
07:31Gotcha, gotcha, gotcha.
07:32Yes.
07:32Um, actually, they don't enhance others' prescience.
07:36That is correct.
07:38They don't enhance others' prescience.
07:40They obscure others' prescience, just like others with prescience are mutually blind to each other.
07:46Did you read, like, all of the Dune books, or just one?
07:48No, because my dad gave me the first one a long, long time ago, and I read it, and I
07:52was like,
07:53oh, I'm excited for the sequels, and he's like, don't read the sequels.
07:55And so I never did.
07:56That's what people keep telling me, but now they're gonna make a movie based off of them.
08:00I was like, I might as well see what's going on.
08:01The sequels, yeah, they get real weird.
08:02Uh, they get really...
08:04Spoilers for, like, what, like a 40-year-old series or whatever.
08:07Yeah.
08:07But, uh, they get really weird, and I'm very excited to see how they pull off.
08:11Danielle, you can, you can say more of the spoilers, because if anyone is watching this show,
08:16and has not read Dune all the way through, they've decided they don't want to.
08:20Yeah.
08:21That's okay.
08:21So all I know is that, you know, when I would have, like, a blanket and wrap it around me,
08:27and sort of, like, go through the house, my dad would like, ah, the mighty maker.
08:31Yeah.
08:31So I think, at some point, Paul becomes Shihalud.
08:34Yes.
08:35Right?
08:35That is true.
08:36Okay.
08:37That's all I know about the sequels.
08:39So really, would you love me if I became a worm should be coming from us.
08:43Yes.
08:43We should we, the fellas, you just start asking, would you love me if I became a worm?
08:48That is the summary of one of the later Dune books.
08:51It ended up being Dune Messiah, but really, the original title was, would you love me if I became a
08:55worm?
08:56A big, sane worm.
08:58I do space crusade, I'm a big bug.
09:00Yeah.
09:01So that is a point for Erica, and we will move on to our next statement.
09:05This next statement is fan-submitted and comes from The Frosty Knight.
09:09In Clare Obscure Expedition 33, you play as a group of expeditioners trying to stop the paintress,
09:15a mysterious entity who causes everyone over a certain age to die in an event called the
09:20Gamage.
09:20Throughout the game, you can pick up reports from the 32 previous expeditions to learn more
09:26about the dangers and failures of those who came before.
09:30Um, actually, she doesn't cause everyone over a certain age to die in an event called the
09:37Gamage?
09:37She does cause that to happen, yeah.
09:40Um, actually, there were only 31 previous expeditions.
09:44You found out what's wrong.
09:46There isn't 32 previous expeditions, but it wasn't 31.
09:50So I will give Danielle and Brennan a chance to guess how many previous expeditions there were.
09:55Um, actually, I'm just going to start naming numbers.
09:57Were there 30 previous expeditions?
09:59That is incorrect.
10:00Brennan?
10:01Um, actually, were there 34 previous expeditions?
10:04That is also incorrect, so the point will go to Erica.
10:07Woo!
10:08There were actually 67 previous expeditions.
10:11That's a lot.
10:11The expedition number counts down from 100.
10:14We don't want to do Price is Right where the number close to that goes.
10:18Yeah, yeah, yeah.
10:18Yeah, there are definitely going to be some people that argue that's what I should have
10:21did, but no.
10:22All right, so that is a point for Erica, bringing our points to zero points for Danielle,
10:28one for Brennan, two for Erica.
10:29It's very early in the game, and it brings us to our first shiny question of the game.
10:33Shiny questions, just like shiny Pokemon, are worth the same.
10:36They're just a little bit different and a little rarer.
10:38And this one is called Where'd That Dragon Come From?
10:40Oh, boy.
10:46You're all big nerds, so you should know the name of every dragon.
10:50We're going to give you the name of a dragon, and your job is to buzz in and tell us
10:54the title of the book,
10:55movie, game, or show the dragon is from.
10:58The player with the most correct answers gets the point.
11:01Your first dragon, Rhaegal.
11:04Um, actually, Rhaegal is from Westeros, A Song of Ice and Fire.
11:09All right, that is correct.
11:11Next up is the dragon.
11:13The dragon.
11:14Brennan.
11:14Um, actually, Dragonheart.
11:16Incorrect.
11:16I'm going to look that up just to double check.
11:18We're thinking about a specific the dragon, but Dragonheart is Draco.
11:22Erica.
11:23Um, actually, Skyrim.
11:24Incorrect.
11:25Is it dragon from Shrek?
11:26Yes, it is.
11:27Um, actually, it's dragon from Shrek.
11:28No!
11:29Yes.
11:30Next dragon is Shinra.
11:32Shinra.
11:33Brennan.
11:34I'm actually Dragon Ball Z.
11:35That is correct.
11:37Your next dragon, this is very funny, Draco.
11:41Yes, Brennan?
11:42I'm actually Dragonheart.
11:43Yeah.
11:44Which is funny, because I could have just looked down and saw something wrong earlier.
11:48Your next dragon, Falkor.
11:51Brennan.
11:52Um, actually, The Neverending Story.
11:53All right.
11:54Fast fingers.
11:56Fast fingers here.
11:57All right, your next dragon, Farosh.
12:01This one is Skyrim.
12:03That is incorrect.
12:05Um, actually, Earthsea?
12:08Incorrect.
12:09Um, actually, is a dragon summons from Final Fantasy?
12:13Uh, no, that is incorrect.
12:14We'll call it there.
12:15This is from Zelda, Breath of the Wild, and Tears of the Kingdom.
12:17Crush.
12:18Gotcha, gotcha, gotcha, gotcha.
12:19Okay.
12:20Your next dragon, Smog.
12:22Brennan.
12:23Um, actually, uh, from Middle Earth, Under the Lonely Mountain.
12:27Yes, The Hobbit.
12:28The next one is Glaurung.
12:31Um, actually, Middle Earth as well.
12:33Yeah, from the Silmarillion.
12:35Glaurung, Father of Dragons.
12:37Your next dragon, Tiamat.
12:39Um, actually, from Mesopotamian mythology, but also Dungeons and Dragons.
12:44Yep.
12:44We also would have accepted Final Fantasy for that.
12:46Final Fantasy, yeah.
12:47Your next dragon, Toothless.
12:50Erica.
12:51How to Train Your Dragon.
12:52That is correct.
12:54Yes.
12:54So cute!
12:55Your next dragon, Haku.
12:57Erica.
12:58Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, Spirited Away.
13:00That is correct.
13:01Your next dragon, Alduin.
13:04Brennan.
13:05Uh, Miss of Avalon.
13:06Incorrect.
13:07Danielle.
13:08Um, actually, Castlevania?
13:09Incorrect.
13:11Erica.
13:11Aragon.
13:12Incorrect.
13:12It's from Skyrim.
13:14Elder Scrolls.
13:14Oh!
13:15You said it so many times.
13:16Guys!
13:17No!
13:18All right.
13:19Uh, your next dragon is Dratini.
13:22Erica.
13:23Pokemon.
13:23That is correct.
13:25Yeah!
13:26And your last dragon will be Trogdor.
13:30Brennan.
13:31I'm actually Homestar Runner.
13:32That is correct.
13:34I'm actually the last dragon is Bruce Leroy.
13:36There he is.
13:36It is Bruce Leroy.
13:38You know, I gave you some spiritual bonus points for that one.
13:41So that is Danielle with one, Erica with three, and Brennan with seven.
13:48So Brennan gets the point for that shiny crown.
13:52Yes, yes.
13:53We're gonna move on to our next statement.
13:56The band Coheed & Cambria isn't just famous for their music, they also have lore.
14:00Lots of it.
14:01Almost all of their albums are set in an elaborate sci-fi story, also called Coheed & Cambria,
14:07named after two lovers desperate to overthrow an evil galactic empire.
14:12Um, actually, it's not a sci-fi story.
14:14It's a fantasy story.
14:15It's a sci-fi story.
14:16Yeah, yeah.
14:16Okay.
14:18Um, actually, it is not named after two lovers.
14:23That is correct.
14:24It is not named, Coheed & Cambria.
14:27Do you want to take a stab at what it's actually called?
14:30Um, actually, I don't want to do that, but I can say that the lead singer's name is Claudio,
14:35and he's from near where I grew up.
14:37Oh.
14:38All right.
14:38Well, Danielle, Erica, y'all will get a chance to take a swipe at what the name of the story
14:43is.
14:44Um, actually, it's set in futuristic Cleveland.
14:46That is incorrect.
14:47Uh, Danielle.
14:49Um, actually, the elaborate sci-fi story is also called Metal Rocks This Kicks Ass.
14:55Yes, I love making music.
14:56I'm so happy to hang out with my friends all day.
14:58That is a great guess, but incorrect.
15:01It was called The Amory Wars.
15:03So, it's still about love, just different.
15:05Ooh.
15:05Yeah, yeah.
15:06Yeah, there have been a lot of issues of, uh, the comic books.
15:10I truly did not know this.
15:11Oh, really? There's comic books?
15:12There are comic books for this, too.
15:14And it's like, a lot of the albums are, again, based in this world that they created.
15:19So, yeah, Claudio, as you were correct, that is Claudio Sanchez, the front man, has been doing this for a
15:24long time.
15:25So, that is a point for Brennan.
15:27We're now at zero points for Danielle, two points for Erica, three points for Brennan.
15:31And we are moving on to our next statement.
15:36Sunrise on the Reaping finally shows us how Hamich Abernathy won his Hunger Games.
15:41The 50th Hunger Games, AKA the second quarter quell, had twice as many tributes.
15:46Only 47 of them made it into the arena after District 12's Luella McCoy was killed during the opening ceremonies.
15:52She was replaced with a body double for the remainder of the games to cover up her death.
15:58Um, actually, it was not the 50th Hunger Games.
16:02It was the 50th Hunger Games.
16:03How many? Do they do them once a year?
16:05How old is President Nam Snow?
16:07Super duper old.
16:09It's really old.
16:10Real old.
16:11Um, actually, it's not so much about how he won his Hunger Games.
16:14It's about how he joined the rebellion.
16:18While that is true, it is basically saying that it shows us how he won the Hunger Games.
16:25Danielle.
16:26Um, actually, I believe that Luella McCoy is not from District 12.
16:30Luella McCoy, I believe, is from District 12.
16:33Brennan.
16:34Um, actually, she was not replaced with a body double for the remainder of the games to cover up her
16:40death.
16:40She was replaced with a body double.
16:42I think that is where we'll call it.
16:44The correction we were looking for is that Katniss and Peeta actually watch a taped recap of Hey Mitch's games
16:51in Catching Fire, which has revealed exactly how he won.
16:54So, yeah.
16:55I almost said finally isn't what it is, and then I was like, no, that's just you being a silly
17:00Billy.
17:01Okay.
17:01That's a good question.
17:03Yeah.
17:03It doesn't finally show us.
17:04We've seen it before.
17:05Also, like, in researching, there were a bunch of people who were like, I found this person who perfectly predicted
17:11what's gonna happen in Sunrise on the Reaping.
17:13How did they know?
17:14And it was like, they showed it in Catching Fire.
17:15They explained how he won.
17:17Yeah.
17:18Like, the plot points were there.
17:19All right.
17:20So, that is gonna be no points for that round, but we're gonna move on to our next statement.
17:26In addition to Vampire the Masquerade, the original World of Darkness featured rulebooks to play as werewolves, demons, mages, mummies,
17:35golems, and fae changelings.
17:37You could even play as a mortal human using the Hunter the Reckoning rulebook.
17:41Um, actually, there were not mummies.
17:44There were mummies.
17:45Danielle.
17:46Um, actually, I'm pretty sure you could play as a human in Vampire, can't you?
17:50You can, but again, specifically using that rulebook.
17:53Okay, gotcha.
17:54Yeah.
17:54Um, actually, golems are a part of a larger game called Promethean.
18:03So, not everything that's playable in that race is necessarily, in that game is necessarily a golem.
18:09Yeah, that is correct.
18:11The core eight books did not include rules for playing a golem.
18:15That was introduced with the Chronicles of Darkness reboot, the book Promethean they created.
18:20So, that is very correct and a point for Brennan.
18:24Bringing us to four points for Brennan, two points for Erica, zero points for Danielle.
18:28And it brings us to our next shiny question.
18:31Vivid sections.
18:37There are few things more shocking than when someone is losing a body part in a movie.
18:42I'll give you the name of a character.
18:44Using the provided whiteboard, draw a line through the character where they were severed.
18:49If you can get it based on the name alone, you get two points.
18:52If you also need the name of the movie they're from, you'll get one point.
18:55Whoever has the most points wins the round.
18:57The first character is the Black Knight.
19:01The Black Knight.
19:04No one needs a title.
19:06Everyone's got it.
19:06Okay.
19:07Reveal your boards.
19:10Okay.
19:11So, yep.
19:12Everyone has arm and leg.
19:14You've added the head.
19:15The head remains.
19:16That's right.
19:17The head does remain.
19:17The head remains.
19:18Okay.
19:21I think I'll just dock a point for that and give you one point.
19:25For everyone else, you get two points.
19:27Your next character, Marvin Nash.
19:31I might need a movie.
19:33Okay.
19:33So, who needs a title?
19:34A title.
19:35I need a title.
19:36All right.
19:36Marvin Nash from Reservoir Dogs.
19:44Reveal our boards.
19:47Okay.
19:48That is a point for Erica and Brennan.
19:51It was the right ear.
19:52The right ear.
19:53That's really good.
19:55Ricky.
19:55Your next character, Charlie Graham.
19:58Do you need a title?
20:00A title.
20:01Okay.
20:02From Hereditary.
20:03Charlie Graham from Hereditary.
20:07I think this is her.
20:09Let's reveal our boards.
20:12Erica, you are correct.
20:13Daniel!
20:15What were you thinking with the hand?
20:18Well, it's a little kid.
20:20What are they doing in these movies?
20:22Yeah, yeah.
20:22I said a finger.
20:23Sure.
20:24And Danielle, what was your thinking?
20:26I think I saw Hereditary drunk, so I was like...
20:29Get out of here, girl!
20:31I don't think I've seen anyone's nuts get decimated in Hereditary.
20:35No!
20:36I do appreciate a horror movie that is truly like, hey, remember that one thought that you always have and
20:42this is your biggest fear?
20:43What if it happens?
20:44But like, who needs to run that experiment?
20:46Okay.
20:47Okay.
20:47Our next character is Sophie Fatale.
20:51Okay.
20:52Who needs a movie?
20:53Movie.
20:53That's gonna be Kill Bill, Volume 1.
21:00All right, let us reveal our boards.
21:05Erica, you are kind of correct.
21:08Damn it!
21:08It's the left arm!
21:09It's the left arm, not the right arm.
21:12I will give a half point for that.
21:15Who were you thinking?
21:16I think I was thinking of one of the people that got chainballed to death.
21:20Yeah, that's by my girl, Gogo Shibara.
21:22Yeah.
21:23This movie has so much style.
21:25And granted, it is the style of a bunch of other filmmakers and creators that he stole from.
21:32But, you know, still, it is so good.
21:35Also, feet.
21:36Probably the most diabolical move of any director is to put yourself in the movie and go,
21:41Selma Hayek, you have to put your foot in my mouth.
21:45And I was like, damn, that's wild.
21:49It's tough.
21:50Yeah.
21:50It's really tough, man.
21:52Are you pro or anti-feet?
21:54I think I'm just sort of astral projecting out of my body.
21:58Just imagining any foot in Quentin Tarantino's mouth.
22:02Well, I mean, we're thinking about your mouth in this scenario.
22:06What do you mean you're thinking?
22:07Are you thinking about my mouth?
22:08I'm thinking like, what is your opinion on feet?
22:10Are you like, oh, I like feet.
22:12A trap has been laid for me.
22:17Nice fucking try.
22:19Do you like feet or don't you, Brennan?
22:21Do you like feet?
22:21You should have cold showers outside the studio for this fucking show.
22:25We're going to go into our last character, Tracy Mills.
22:31Okay.
22:32No pins are moving.
22:33We need a title.
22:34Yeah.
22:35Seven.
22:39All right.
22:40Reveal.
22:42What?
22:43Huh?
22:44What?
22:45What?
22:46That's a point.
22:46Yeah!
22:50Yeah, Brennan, do you remember the what's in the box?
22:53What's in the box?
22:54Gwyneth Paltrow's in the box?
22:58I don't watch shit that doesn't have swords.
23:01This one has a knife.
23:03It has a knife.
23:05And that sentence is why I feel so alone.
23:11A knife is not a sword.
23:13Okay.
23:14There's not a block of swords in the kitchen.
23:16Okay.
23:17So for that shiny question, I gave Danielle two points for the one she got correct.
23:22Brennan, I gave you three points for the one you have correct.
23:25And Erica, I gave you five and a half points for the ones you got correct.
23:29So that point goes to you.
23:31Yay!
23:32Which brings our score to zero for Danielle, three for Erica, four for Brennan.
23:36You don't have to keep saying me first.
23:37You could like put me in the middle.
23:38We can like remix that.
23:40Yeah, I just go in order.
23:41Can you put me in the middle next time?
23:43Okay.
23:43Let's move on to our next statement.
23:45In the video game Heaven's Vault, you play as Aaliyah Elazara adventuring between the moons of Nebula,
23:52collecting artifacts like necklaces, telescopes, and books, and deciphering the hieroglyphic language
23:58of the ancients that appear on the artifacts.
24:01Aaliyah travels with her robot companion named Six because she gets a new robot on each quest.
24:07And this is her sixth one.
24:08Um, actually, that is not why Six is named that.
24:12That is correct.
24:13Do you know the exact reason why?
24:16Because of a non-that reason.
24:20Okay.
24:21Um, actually, I was gonna say that I don't know that it's a hieroglyphic language.
24:28Technically...
24:28Because hieroglyphics is representative pictographs.
24:32Yeah, which I think...
24:34And this is not.
24:34I'll double check, but that is a good question.
24:36I will double check that right now.
24:38And I believe the robot is named Six because this is the same one that she brings,
24:46but this is the sixth time that she's had to have him repaired, I believe?
24:50Incorrect.
24:51Um, actually, the robot companion is named Six because it was the sixth version that was manufactured.
24:58But not because she gets a new one after each quest.
25:01It's just like the sixth in the manufacturing line.
25:03You are correct that it's not because, uh, she gets a new robot each quest.
25:08It's because she doesn't get along with the robots, so she doesn't think to name them,
25:12and she's lost her first five.
25:14So, I think that is more correct.
25:16I think we will give you the point.
25:18Woo!
25:18As much as it pains me to take a point away from Brennan.
25:21Oh, it seems really, really hard.
25:23I just also want to say, since you did catch me on this and I'm fascinated by, like, language glyphs
25:28and stuff,
25:29you could, technically the better term would have just be calling it a glyphic language.
25:33Hieroglyphs is, like, specifically, it comes from Greek, it means sacred carving.
25:37It's mostly used when it's, like, stylized pictures that are those sort of images.
25:42And I don't think that these are, like, stylized pictures of things.
25:45They are not. They are just glyphs.
25:47They are just normal-ass symbols.
25:48They're just symbols.
25:50Hieroglyphic language might be a little too specific to define the language that's in this game.
25:55I loved this video game.
25:57And up until Chance of Sonar, it was my favorite deciphering a language game.
26:02Okay.
26:03It wasn't about the ending so much as it was about spending hours, like, hunched over your notes, scribbling different
26:11glyphs that were not hieroglyphs.
26:13It would have been a lot easier if they'd been hieroglyphs,
26:15because hieroglyphs come from pictographs that come from the thing that they are describing frequently.
26:20So you would have had some sort of through line there.
26:22This was just, you find random pieces of pottery, and you gotta trade for necklaces, and you're, like, running around
26:29all through these tombs,
26:30and you got little pieces, little pieces of the puzzle, and you put them all together, and it makes everything
26:35in your relationship better.
26:36Okay.
26:36Yeah, that's a good description of it, I think.
26:38I mean, I wasn't gonna give a point until that rant happened, and I guess I was, like, I now
26:43see how different a hieroglyph is than a glyphic.
26:46That's gonna be a point for Erika and Danielle.
26:50Danielle Rika!
26:51Danielle Rika!
26:53Let's move on to our next statement.
26:55Viscer One is the only yerk to ever infest an andalite in anamorphs, and therefore the first to gain their
27:02innate ability to morph.
27:04Born in Epsilon 9466, Viscer One collects torture devices around the galaxy and has been known to morph into various
27:11monsters to eat his enemies.
27:13Um, actually, it's Viscer Three.
27:16That is incorrect, but you are correct for most of it.
27:19Yes, so, uh, Viscer One is known as Viscer Three for most of the series.
27:24He becomes Viscer One in between books 45 and 46.
27:27This is a note left for me.
27:28Someone familiar with the books might buzz in with an, um, actually, that's Viscer Three, rub it in their face
27:33that they didn't read far enough.
27:35Uh, which is a statement written by your partner.
27:39Wait, did my girlfriend write this question?
27:41Yes.
27:42It might have been.
27:43Yep.
27:43Wow.
27:43It could have been.
27:44We set up the episode before we, like, put everyone in the seat, so this wasn't even to purposely get
27:51you.
27:51It just happened to fall.
27:53It just happened to work great.
27:53It just happened to get me.
27:54Yeah, yeah.
27:55Um, actually, Viscer One was not born Esplin 9466.
27:59Was, in fact, born Epsilon 9466.
28:02Um, actually, Viscer One is not the only Yurk to ever infest an Analyte in Animorphs.
28:09He is the only Yurk to ever infest a human in New York, and that's why humans in New York
28:14go Yurk.
28:15I was wondering where you were going with that.
28:17And I found it.
28:18It took me a second, but I got there.
28:20Like, just around.
28:21Okay.
28:22Analytes aren't born with the ability to morph.
28:24It's a technological advancement that they developed, so that is no points for anyone there.
28:29The scores are Brennan with four, Danielle with one, Erika with four.
28:35If you're confused, uh, it's because we did it in an order specifically Danielle asked for.
28:40You're welcome.
28:41And it is time for our final shiny question of the game.
28:45Challenge rating relating.
28:52It's time to channel your inner dungeon master to answer the age-old question,
28:56how many skeletons would it take to match the difficulty of a certain monster?
29:01We'll be using the experience points of all monsters using the D&D 5e 2024 rules.
29:08You need to assemble the correct amount of skeletons on your tray without going over.
29:14Now, we just need some skeletons.
29:17Oh my god.
29:18Oh, I am so sorry.
29:20I regret my tardiness.
29:22This never happens, but the broom pike was murder this morning.
29:26Forgive me.
29:27You might know me.
29:28I am Wizard Banker, a totally different person.
29:30Uh, I hear we are looking for a small skeleton loan.
29:34Is that correct?
29:35Yes, yes, for this, uh, shiny.
29:37Okay, well, I think I could maybe, just given your credit score,
29:41get you, uh, 20 skeletons to start with, all right?
29:44So go ahead and take this.
29:46Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
29:46What's the interest rate like?
29:47Oh, the, uh, ACR is very low.
29:50That's, um, annual calcium rate.
29:53So, uh, you'll figure that out at some point.
29:55It should be all right.
29:56There we go, and just one final one for you.
29:59Just a quick scry of my stocks.
30:01Oh, the Dow Crones is terrible today.
30:03All right.
30:06So now you have a bank of skeletons.
30:09One skeleton is 50 XP.
30:11And you would just use the XP amount of that skeleton
30:15to try and make up the same XP as different CR monster.
30:20In an event where no one gets it exactly right.
30:23Closest without going over.
30:25And that's banker rules.
30:26That's banker rules.
30:27Let's start off.
30:28Your first CR to match is a tiger.
30:31That's a CR one.
30:32Tiger.
30:41Some vastly different answers here.
30:43Okay, yes.
30:43The correct one, and by correct I mean exactly correct,
30:47is going to go to Danielle.
30:49The tiger is worth 200 XP points.
30:52So we needed four skeletons for that.
30:54All right, our next one is going to be a CR two gelatinous cube.
30:58CR two gelatinous cube.
31:05All right, Erica gets the point for that one.
31:08A gelatinous cube is worth 450 XP points.
31:12And we needed nine skeletons.
31:14Wait, I put seven.
31:15I also put seven.
31:16I meant to put eight, but I did think I did put seven.
31:19Okay, since you put seven, that'll be a tie for you and Danielle.
31:22Yay!
31:23Your next one is going to be a CR three green hag.
31:35That is a point for Brennan and Danielle.
31:38Woo!
31:38It's worth 700 XP points.
31:41So we were looking for 14 skeletons.
31:43From this point on, we're going to give you a hint.
31:45The amount of skeletons needed, it exceeds your loan.
31:48You're just going to have to say a number because these next two are going to be very big.
31:53This one is going to be a CR 13 beholder.
31:56That's interesting.
31:56Okay.
31:57Let's go with a cool 40.
31:59Okay.
32:00I'm going to say 35.
32:02Okay.
32:02I'm going to go with 72.
32:04That is another point for Danielle.
32:05It was 200 skeletons.
32:07I was originally going to go with 152 and I thought I would be overshooting it.
32:11Okay.
32:11So hold on a second.
32:13This 2024 rules I think is telling you that one beholder is as dangerous as 200 skeletons?
32:19Yes.
32:20Do skeletons have a ranged attack?
32:22We're using just a base skeleton.
32:23Yeah, we're just using the baseline XP of a skeleton to match up the XP.
32:27Right.
32:27So this is like the, would you fight one giant duck or a hundred small horses?
32:32Let me tell you the action economy of Dungeons and Dragons fifth edition.
32:35If you're fighting 200 of anything, you are better off fighting one of anything.
32:40Ancient red dragon that has a CR of 24.
32:45I'm going to go with a thousand skeletons.
32:48Okay.
32:48That would have also been my answer.
32:50One thousand skeletons.
32:52Okay.
32:52One thousand and one skeleton.
32:54Oh, you son of a, I knew it.
32:56That point does go to Brennan.
32:59It is 1,240 skeletons.
33:03Damn.
33:04So look, here's what I'm saying, right?
33:05If you're fighting 1200 skeletons, of 1200 skeletons, 120, 60 of them are going to crit
33:13on you if they have some kind of ranged attack.
33:15So let's say they do a D8 damage.
33:1860 D8 times two is 120 D8 damage.
33:22I'll tell you right now, an ancient red dragon's breath weapon doesn't do 120 D8 fire damage.
33:28Basically, in the new format, they just equate experience points to experience points.
33:34And so in this situation, it was a very basic multiplication of the 50 experience points of a skeleton
33:40to whatever that other creature was.
33:43Well, with 1200 skeletons, I feel like they can't all be in range.
33:49You would have to be a very high level spell caster with very potent AOE effects.
33:54And even then, there's a certain amount of skeletons where you run out of spell slots.
33:58Yeah.
33:58You know, like, it's like, and again, they would have to perfectly cluster.
34:02And or, terrain.
34:05And terrain.
34:06We gotta take into account terrain.
34:07Like, even darkvision has a range limit.
34:10So you're talking about, like, if their skeletons are coming in the dark.
34:12I'm very grateful that you are having these questions now.
34:15You can see why I only started you with a 20 skeleton loan.
34:18Perhaps on your next business venture, you will think about these things before coming to me.
34:24But I'm afraid I do have to get away.
34:27I'm doing other wizard banking things.
34:29You know, like, bonds.
34:33Well, it's been wonderful.
34:34Goodbye.
34:35Goodbye.
34:36Goodbye forever.
34:38Does his manager know he's only working like 10 minutes a day?
34:41I don't think so.
34:43So that is a point for Danielle.
34:46Bringing our scores to two points for Danielle, four for Erica, four for Brennan.
34:51Brian, you didn't talk to the wizard the whole time.
34:54It felt like he kind of had it.
34:56I've just been sitting over here double checking something.
34:59Because I thought that this might be necessary.
35:02In 2024 5E, the Dungeon Master's Guide talks about it being an XP budget for your challenge rating.
35:10And so I'm assuming that's where he was getting all of his fancy math from.
35:15And so if you have a specific, you know, XP budget of 4,000, how many skeletons would fit in
35:23that 4,000?
35:24Quite a few.
35:25I need to go to a wizard financial advisor.
35:27Yeah.
35:28I think it's time for us to move on to our final statement, which as always concerns real life skills.
35:35But this time, it's real life shiny.
35:42We'll show you the image of an electrical outlet and you need to name a country that uses it.
35:47Many countries can use these outlets, you just need to name one country.
35:50Yes.
35:51Let us begin.
35:55Brennan.
35:55Italy.
35:56Italy does not use this type of outlet.
35:59Erica.
36:00Australia.
36:01Australia does use this type.
36:03Let's move on to our next outlet.
36:05Brennan.
36:06UK.
36:07Yes, you are correct.
36:09Let's look at our next outlet.
36:12Erica.
36:13South America.
36:14Or, uh...
36:15Yeah, pick a country.
36:16That is correct.
36:17Good poll.
36:19Let's look at our next plug.
36:23Kamchatka.
36:24Incorrect.
36:25Erica.
36:25Egypt.
36:26Incorrect.
36:27The Bahamas.
36:28Incorrect.
36:28This was the type N outlet that's in Brazil and South Africa.
36:33Just those two places?
36:34Mostly South Africa.
36:35Yeah, mostly.
36:36Yeah.
36:36Huh.
36:37Let's look at our last plug.
36:41Italy.
36:42Incorrect.
36:43China.
36:44Incorrect.
36:45Iceland.
36:46That is incorrect.
36:47We'll call it there.
36:48This is type K, specifically the middle smiley face one.
36:52It's in Denmark, Faroe Islands, Greenland, Bangladesh, Guinea, Madagascar, Maldives, St.
36:58Vincent, Senegal, and Tunisia.
36:59I remember this one because it looks like a little smiley face.
37:02I was about to say, he's just a little guy.
37:04Yeah.
37:05Yeah.
37:05All right.
37:06Brendan, you got one correct.
37:07Erica with two correct.
37:09You gained the point for this round.
37:11Bringing our final score to Danielle with two.
37:14Brendan with four.
37:16And with five points, our winner, Erica Ishii.
37:21Congratulations.
37:21Thank you all for playing and thank you for watching.
37:26Join us next time for even more pedantic corrections here on Um Actually.
37:29You think you're ready to handle Erica in the dome?
37:33Um, actually, I think not.
37:37She's gonna kill you.
