00:00It's an interesting sort of run of play for JT Poston because in the last 25 starts prior to this
00:05one, he only had two top 10s.
00:07His best finish was a tie for fifth in the state of North Carolina, which is home for JT, a
00:12tie for fifth in the PGA Championship last year.
00:15Last win was, of course, the fifth major of 2024, the Stryner's Children's Open.
00:21But he was visibly emotional on that green as his wife and his children come up to congratulate him and
00:27just kind of alluded to a lack of confidence.
00:30And maybe just belief in himself and just how he kept working hard and had a great support system.
00:36You posted on X about just how massive this win was for him.
00:40Give us a little bit of insight to what you know about the journey.
00:43JT's gone through the support of his caddy Aaron Fleener to get back to the winner's circle.
00:47Wow. I mean, if you would have told me that JT Poston was winning this week, I would have I
00:51would have thought about it for a little while and said,
00:53huh, well, I need to go back and just like double check.
00:57I didn't miss something in the last couple of weeks that showed that he was trending.
01:01Now, JT is a player who I have always considered to be one of the better putters I've ever seen.
01:07It's very unorthodox on how he kind of goes about it, stands super tall, has a little bit more body
01:13movement.
01:13If you listen to Keith Mitchell episode, he kind of talks a little bit about JT and that.
01:17And I kind of think about the profile of players who've played well here, you know, you've had Tigers and
01:25the Scotties all win at this place.
01:27But you've also had guys like like Denny McCarthy.
01:30You know, he almost won here.
01:31He almost won here a couple of different times.
01:33And JT and Denny's game is similar to me.
01:35You know, when they when they iron it well and put it well.
01:39I mean, it's weeks that they contend and it's exactly what JT did this week.
01:43But as far as just his journey goes and kind of what I've been noticing from JT out on the
01:48road.
01:49And I remember having a conversation with JT and he's working with his coach at Bay Hill and sitting there
01:54kind of talking with Fleaner as they're working.
01:56You could tell they're kind of working hard, right?
01:58Like just nothing really seems to become easy.
02:00You know, you see one shot kind of look right.
02:02The next one kind of looks funky.
02:04And you could tell just on the range like that they're kind of it isn't all quite there.
02:10And I think just any any caddy understands as any player gets this is like when things are just off.
02:17It's so hard to see yourself getting on the other side of it.
02:20And what I mean by that is that, you know, you might find a good round, but it's hard to
02:24find four.
02:25And there's plenty of players that are going through that this season.
02:28Jason Day talked about it after he missed the cut this week that, you know, I just I just lack
02:33a little bit of the trust and confidence.
02:35When I get out there to to really believe that I can get over this this hump and this hurdle
02:41of of, you know, not just making the cut and just hanging out on the weekend and having teen off
02:47in the 10th hole.
02:48We have split tees.
02:50And so for JT, I think that, you know, he's found some confidence for in a couple of different ways.
02:56I think, number one, a golf ball change.
02:59We've kind of seen a lot of this happen lately, just guys finding getting into new equipment and suddenly, you
03:05know, like Cam Young said.
03:06The other thing's the putter.
03:07Yeah, yeah, yeah.
03:08The putter, right?
03:09Yeah.
03:09Yeah.
03:10So like 132 is just 132.
03:12And I think JT got a little added bump with some distance to the golf ball, a little lower spinning
03:17golf ball.
03:18And then also, you know, we played some heavy wins on Thursday, Friday.
03:21We'll get into just a little bit more what happened earlier this week.
03:24But then the putter, you know, JT uses, you know, the go low putter his entire career.
03:29And then he switches the spider, which we've seen, you know, many players do at this point.
03:33It's kind of the fad, almost like remember when the M2 came out.
03:36There's plenty of like the two ball.
03:38There's fads that happen.
03:40It was the jailbird and the broomstick were the last two kind of putter fads.
03:44The jailbird didn't take over the two like quite like the spider has.
03:48But it's a yeah, it's a good call back there.
03:50It's funny.
