00:00Man, so it's like, you know, the guys I have at the top are Rory, Matt Fitzpatrick, Chris Godrop.
00:04Like, I guess anyone can play well, but to your point, it's like, it's really tough.
00:09It's really tough to know because you're watching practice rounds, you specifically being out there,
00:14and you're seeing guys just try a bunch of different shots, you know?
00:16Okay, I'm going to, like, the, it's like, I'm going to, I think five.
00:21Five's one with the pawn on the right, right?
00:23Like, I'm going to hit a driver up there.
00:24Okay, now I'm in the pawn.
00:25Now I'm going to hit something different.
00:26And just, you don't know what the strategy is going to be.
00:28You also don't know what the conditions are going to be on a given day.
00:31So it's hard to profile, say, like, this guy's playing the course really well right now
00:34because we don't know how they are going to play the course when you put a tee in the ground
00:38on Thursday.
00:39It's, like, it's so hard to use this as a good stat because some of these holes dogleg
00:44and you're hitting into a very, into an angular small fairway.
00:49But distance from the edge of the fairway is a good measuring stick for how straight somebody drives the golf
00:56ball.
00:56And I think about these key holes because you just can't, you can't have big misses on those holes.
01:03You have to be somebody that's, you know, can step up on a hard tee shot and be able to
01:07hit it fairly straight.
01:08Like, a Fitzpatrick would be, you know, a 65% accuracy guy, which is very high for the PGA Tour.
01:14So those are the guys that I'm looking at this week that I think would be probably, I think,
01:20a better look than somebody who's a 55% accurate guy.
01:25You know, Rory McIlroy's kind of in that, in that world.
01:27But, you know, he's also good enough to be able to find those fairways and hit, you know,
01:33three woods on those holes to make sure that he finds it.
01:35And I think he'll make that adjustment.
01:37I think Rory's, you know, a, I think he's not going to push it too hard.
01:42But that would be the question is, is, is, does he try to push it too far sometimes?
01:47And does that get him into some trouble?
01:49But distance to the edge of the fairway, creativity around the greens with a short game.
01:54And honestly, putting is, like, I know I mentioned the slow greens, but it's also putting,
02:00like, on, on Link's style greens, when you have a lot of humps and bumps to them,
02:05it's, it's sometimes, like, a certain type of player that putts better on those types of greens
02:11that, that have a little bit more slope and kind of humps and bumps to them,
02:17where, versus other guys who putt better on faster, slopier greens,
02:22versus, like, having hammer putts and, and suits guys better than others.
02:30Yeah. Well, it is, it's, it's going to be an interesting one.
02:33I mean, I, I know for, for, for our part, I, I just, just get me to,
02:37I'm debating as to whether or not I'm going to wake up at, like, 1 a.m. for the first
02:40tee shot.
02:41We'll, we'll see if I, we'll see if that plan comes to fruition.
02:43But, I, get me to Thursday. Let me start seeing how this thing's coming to life.
02:46I got a good, I got a good story.
02:49So, the year that I played the, yeah, the, the year I played the Open Championship at Troon,
02:54and, uh, they, they were teeing off all the guys for whatever reason.
02:58And, um, they were showing the first tees.
02:59And I was teeing off at, like, 1.30 in the morning or, like, 2 in the morning.
03:04And all my boys, like, didn't go to the Open, but they decided,
03:07all right, we're going to go get a bunch of beer.
03:09Uh, we're going to go to the bar.
03:11And they come back.
03:12We're all going to watch the Open.
03:14And we're going to stay up all night and watch and drink.
03:16And, you know, I'm, like, 23 or 4 years old.
03:18It's, like, this is still, like, normal activity before our friends had kids.
03:22So, don't judge my friends.
03:24Um, and they made it all the way until, like, 30 minutes out before my tee time.
03:30And they just started going down like flies.
03:32And they didn't even make it out, uh, for the tee shot.
03:35So, they, like, all, like, woke up on the couch and, like, my round was over.
03:38They're, like, they're, like, dang it, we did it again.
