00:00The death toll from the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck Sarangani on June 8 has risen to 55, while
00:0713 cities and municipalities in southern Mindanao have been placed under a state of calamity.
00:13The state of calamity declarations now cover the entire province of Davao Occidental in Region 11, with five municipalities namely
00:22the capital of Malita, Don Marcelino, Jose Abad Santos, Santa Maria, and the town of Sarangani,
00:29and the entire province of Sarangani with seven municipalities, including Maasim, the capital town of Alabel, Glan, Kiamba, Maitum, Malapatan,
00:40and Malungon, as well as General Santos City in South Cotabato, all of which are in Region 12.
00:46So far, the number of affected individuals due to the earthquake has risen to 392,806 or 86,135 families
00:56across 352 barangays in the Zamboanga Peninsula, Davao Region, Soxarjen, and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, according to the
01:06National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.
01:09The agency also reported that the number of injured people is now at 1,120, while 38 people remain missing.
