00:00For the Spurs, this was unequivocally one of the worst, if not the single worst collapse
00:06in the history of the NBA. And I will make the case, this was, and I'll make the argument,
00:13the worst collapse in a big spot in the history of sports. There were so many ways for them not
00:19to lose this game. They started out lights out. The way that Spurs played, 76 points
00:26in the first half on 60% shooting. They hit a finals record, 14 three-pointers in the
00:33first half. They then became the first team in the history of the NBA, regular season or
00:39postseason, to score 76 or more points in the first half, 30 or less in the second half.
00:47I mean, 14 points in one quarter, 16 in the other, 30 total in the second half. After
00:55shooting the lights out. And honestly, Mitch Johnson is absolutely just atrocious in his
01:02coaching. Wemby takes a monster head. And De'Aaron Fox's decision to go for that layup
01:08on the OG block, as opposed to hold the ball and run out the clock and take the foul, that's
01:14going to go down in history as one of the single worst decisions ever made by a ball player in
01:20the finals. He and Wemby talked about the epic meltdown after the game.
01:43I can't really explain it right now. I don't know. I think it's just, I mean, execution,
01:52greediness of some sort. We clearly weren't the most hungry in the second half.
02:00Wow. That, to me, was the biggest collapse in the history of sports in a big spot. And
02:09it'll officially go down that way if and when the Knicks win a championship, okay? And that's
02:15how you have to phrase it. Because to me, it was always 28-3. And the Falcons and the
02:21Falcons fans understand that. I also think, if you remember that Super Bowl, there were
02:27moments Tom Brady plays, Edelman catches, plays on defense, sacking the quarterback, where
02:33he said, all right, the Patriots are making some plays here. Took a minute to have a couple
02:38of moments for the Knicks late. I really think that when you look at this collapse, and it
02:45is the greatest collapse in the history of the NBA Finals, it was a massive choke. And
02:53Charles Barkley summed it up perfectly, where he said, this team is absolutely braindead, playing
03:00the dumbest basketball you'll ever see. Yes. The Spurs know how to take the lead. They just
03:05don't know how to hold the lead. That's the most important part of the lead. The holding.
03:12I mean, just an unbelievable Seinfeld reference there in relation to the classic Seinfeld about
03:18taking the reservation and holding the reservation. There are a lot of names that need to be mentioned
03:26here. I want to start with De'Aaron Fox. De'Aaron Fox, who I like a lot as a ballplayer,
03:31was just completely out of his mind bad. Missing shots, turning it over left and right, dribbling
03:38off his foot. And the fact that De'Aaron Fox, at the end of the day, didn't even understand
03:44the questions that were being asked by David Benjamin from ESPN and, you know, the fine men
03:50and women who cover the NBA, that was absurd. Beyond absurd. And Fox was awful. This is what I'm saying
03:57about dribbling it off his foot. And the fact that Dylan Harper wasn't out there was amateur hour.
04:05And Fox was awful. And the fact that he didn't realize in that situation, I don't want to hear you
04:10go
04:10three. Just like the Atlanta Falcons and Kyle Shanahan not running the ball and running out
04:16the clock and the clock being your friend, you have to bring it back out. I mean, this,
04:22this is basketball 101. I mean, when I saw him go in, I mean, I, I, that's unbelievable. And that
04:29block
04:29set up this and set up OG. And I, I still can't get enough of it. Look at that, Anobi
04:35flying through
04:35the air. And honestly, the Spurs deserved it. They deserve to lose. I mean, Mitch Johnson,
04:43Mitch, please. Mitch Johnson embarrassed himself in that third quarter. They are just haphazardly
04:51chucking up three after three after three. And you have Victor Wembenyama. And I don't want to say,
04:59well, you know, you have Wembenyama and the Patriots have Tom Brady, but you're talking about
05:03most talented guy, best player on, on the field and on the court. And the fact that you couldn't
05:07get the ball into Wembeny and you're sitting there chucking up shots left and right. I mean,
05:12that's a terrible job. I mean, call timeouts, run different place. They're chucking up threes
05:18and missing all of them with, you know, 15, 20 on the shot clock. If you're a Spurs fan,
05:25it's mind-numbingly atrocious. And it was a gift for the Knicks. And you can't, I mean,
05:31it's part of the deal, right? I mean, Patriots fans don't say, man, I don't want you to frame it
05:36that it was a Falcons collapse. It was a Patriot comeback. Look, sometimes you got to take
05:42the opposition and what they give you. And if the sports gods and sports karma are going to sit here
05:47and say, yeah, you know, where the other team's going to choke, what are you going to do with it?
05:51Speaking of choking and sports gods and karma, how about that loser Wembe? I can't stand Victor
05:57Wembenyama. I mean, we've talked about this. He's become the, the enemy of the state. And some
06:03would say when he elbowed cat in the face and they called the flagrant, I didn't think that was
06:07legal. I think that was kosher. You can actually call a flagrant foul on Victor Wembenyama the NBA
06:12finals. What a concept. Some would say this kind of changed the ebb and the flow. And, you know,
06:21you'll look at it from a Wembe perspective and he gets that flagrant foul and somewhere on his
06:28couch, Nasrid is, is nodding his head. And, you know, you saw earlier in the game with Mitchell
06:34Robinson and, you know, you saw, you know, Wembe, you know, pointing to his noggin and acting all
06:40egotistical and arrogant. And then you see Wembe, you know, missing the two free throws laid. And
06:47Wembe was three of 14 in the, in the second half. And honestly, I'm, I'm done with Wembe.
06:54I'm tired of his act. I mean, even here, right. And that's, you know, Mitch knew what he was doing
06:59and Mitch threw an elbow with a point and a purpose and he's the alpha dog and he's the
07:04enforcer. But look at cocky Wembe. I mean, it's just, it's enough. It's, I can't, I can't stand him.
07:12I can't. And I was just so happy because he's very, this is what I'm talking about, right?
07:18Like he's, he's really just so unlikable and he keeps doing it. And some would say, you know,
07:27when he had that retaliation against, against cats, you know, that's, that was the turning
07:33points. And obviously, you know, when he chucked Jalen Brunson in, in UFC fashion, that's,
07:39that was it. So I, Wembe last night was terrible. And the three of 14, as I mentioned, when you
07:45look at what he did in the second half of that game, awful, those missed free throws were huge.
07:51And by the way, where was Wembe's leadership? I almost feel like, you know, Victor Wambanyama
07:57is getting a pass and he shouldn't. Nine of 25 from the field last night. Atrocious, awful stuff.
08:06I mean, and think about all the time that was missed by Carl Anthony Towns because of
08:11the horrendous officiating in the first two minutes of the game. So I think that there
08:16are three members of this team that wear the villain horns, but Wembe's got to be at the
08:23top of the list. I mean, Wembe missing these free throws, when you want to sit here and point
08:28to your head, when you want to be all arrogant and you want to be all cocky, I mean, that's,
08:34that's a terrible job by Victor Wembe-Yama. I mean, I know he's young and at some point
08:40he'll win a championship and this series is not over yet, but everything about Wembe, he
08:47has officially become enemy number one, in my opinion.
