00:18Welcome to our review of Masters of the Universe, He-Man,
00:26which I bulked up. I'm working really hard on these pecs.
00:32What? Yeah, quick. Don't accuse me of anything, Joe. I have the power.
00:41And the power makes my muscles big. Guys, it's a big week for movies.
00:46We got Masters of the Universe out and also Scary Movie.
00:51Which one should you go see? Well, we're gonna watch both.
00:53We just got back from Masters of the Universe.
00:58And I guess I'll jump right in and say, wow, it was charming.
01:06It was very charming. It wears its heart on its sleeve.
01:11I liked it. I liked it a lot.
01:14The action was top tier when there was action.
01:18There was violence more so than I thought there would be.
01:23It's not afraid to brawl when it wants to.
01:26When it wants to stick a knife in somebody's, you know, neck, they'll do it.
01:29When they want to rip a jaw off, they'll do it.
01:31So, which leads me to leave.
01:34Is this a kid's film or what? What's going on here?
01:37But if you're hoping that this is a serious, you know, take on it, this is not that.
01:45Okay? This is a comedy more so than anything else.
01:50I mean, it wants to make endless jokes even when maybe it doesn't need to.
01:56It's one of those kinds of films.
01:58I wish they'd ease up on the non-stop jokes and the ironic humor that, you know, the film would
02:05do constantly.
02:05Because I was actually really getting into the lore and the characters.
02:10You know, He-Man, obviously, when we were kids, He-Man's on TV and it's actually before our time a
02:15little bit.
02:16And I, you know, at first I thought He-Man was, nah, I hated on He-Man.
02:19I was like, man, I got Ninja Turtles, I got, yeah, I don't like the He-Man.
02:23But over time, I actually grew to appreciate the He-Man, you know, obviously started primarily with the toys.
02:30You know, Transformers with the toys, He-Man with the toys.
02:32The toys were outrageous.
02:34You had these like little figures that they're multicolored and weird guys, beast guy and ram dude and all these
02:41crazy things.
02:42And what this film gets right is the fucking visuals is on point.
02:49Like this 10 out of 10 in visuals and costumes.
02:52I mean, for ridiculous looking toys, but they didn't shy away from them.
02:58They didn't hide them.
03:00They weren't, you know, ashamed of to use them just as they are and in live action.
03:06And I think because of that, it was campy fun.
03:10When those little action figure dudes and villains and side characters were on screen brawling it out, that was campy
03:19fun.
03:19It's a highlight whenever they fought.
03:21And it even leads to some funny inappropriate humor, fisting jokes, giving head jokes.
03:30So this film is crazy, man.
03:32It's kind of all over the place.
03:34And the most I can say is I felt that heart coming through on screen.
03:39The charm, the heart.
03:41You could tell that people cared about the license and the material behind it.
03:47But without taking it too serious.
03:50And maybe a little too many of these jokes at times.
03:53But overall, I really liked it.
03:55I have more to say, but I want to have the boys jump in.
03:59And what did you?
04:00So ultimately, I liked it.
04:02What did you guys think?
04:03For me, I would wait to go see this movie.
04:07I appreciate it.
04:08I kind of wanted it to be campy and have more jokes.
04:13I kind of felt like they dropped the ball whenever they didn't do it in the 80s.
04:18They should have been like send them in the 80s.
04:20Like instead, they sent them in our present time.
04:23I think it would have been more charming for it.
04:25Again, I never really grew up with He-Man.
04:27I don't watch the cartoon.
04:29I never watched anything besides the Dolph Lundgren one.
04:33But I think there were some jokes that land, but there were a lot of jokes.
04:39They should have been better.
04:40The execution was not good, but I wanted it to be cheesier and campier.
04:45That's what I wanted.
04:46What?
04:46For a He-Man one, yeah.
04:48Cheesier and campier than this?
04:50The one thing I can say about this, this is the cheesiest and the campiest and the most non-serious
04:56take on He-Man just having fun with it.
04:59And almost to the film's detriment, you wanted to be even like, can you tell me like why?
05:04Better jokes and stuff like that.
05:06Oh, make you laugh more.
05:07Yes.
05:08I think Nicholas did a great job.
05:10He did a great job as a He-Man, Adam.
05:13He fit the role and like kind of like very shy, timid guy.
05:17But yeah, he was, he was great.
05:19Yeah.
05:20Casting was great.
05:21Visuals look pretty good, but really, you don't really see much of his sidekicks.
05:30You just see, what's her name?
05:32Tila and Duncan.
05:33That's it.
05:34We don't really spend a lot of time with this man and anyone else.
05:36I guess I'm coming from the 80s version of Masters of the Universe, the Dolph Lundgren film.
05:42Have you seen that one all the way through?
05:44You have?
05:44It's been a long time.
05:45None of the interesting side characters are in that.
05:49There's like Manowar and then that little midget dude with the pan face, weird looking
05:55guy with the unit.
05:57And this one, there's a lot, I think, for, you know, I mean, obviously supporting characters.
06:04They're not the main characters.
06:06Yeah, the main ones are just Tila and Duncan, but we don't really spend a lot of time with
06:10the rest of them.
06:12Jared Leto's take.
06:13He had some funny lines, but I wish the voice was there.
06:17Yeah.
06:17He didn't have the laugh.
06:20He's got his own laugh.
06:21He had some good lines, but I think it would have been more fitting if he had the original
06:26voice or something similar to it.
06:28I want the original.
06:28That meme.
06:29Yeah, it would have been better.
06:30It might have been a little too crazy, a little too campy, but yeah.
06:34Yeah, but for me, honestly, I would just wait for stream.
06:39I liked it.
06:40I have really low expectations though.
06:43It's kind of like.
06:44Laugh with the.
06:45Ah, ha, ha, ha, ha, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da, da,
06:49da, da, da, da.
06:51Me too.
06:52Me too.
06:52But it kind of over time won me over on that.
06:55Yeah, Jared Leto was actually good.
06:57I mean, he's a weirdo and you know you do not like him for how he is in real life.
07:02Yeah.
07:02And I don't like him for how he is in real life, but he's unrecognizable in this.
07:06I couldn't even tell.
07:08He's like almost Jeremy Irons in Dungeons and Dragons just hamming it up.
07:14Having a good time.
07:15And the music is Brian May.
07:18And so it is so much like Flash Gordon.
07:21Yes.
07:21And so it's like, I love Flash Gordon.
07:23I even love that original Jeremy Irons Dungeons and Dragons.
07:26I know it's terrible, but like if you think those types of movies where you're just
07:31going to like have a good time.
07:33Turn your brain off.
07:34But the action is good.
07:35And yeah, I wish they had a better script.
07:38Either the jokes needed to land or you need to take it more seriously.
07:43But there's someone dropped the ball somewhere in the middle of it.
07:46So it's not as good as I was hoping.
07:48It's not like Thor Ragnarok where it had all this action that is really funny.
07:52It's solid all the way through.
07:53But it's also not Thor Love and Thunder where it's a garbage fire and I never want to watch
07:57it again.
07:58So it's like, there's some good stuff here.
08:02I watched He-Man, but I'm not nostalgic for He-Man.
08:04I don't give a shit about He-Man as a character.
08:06And so I wasn't like, oh, I have to go see this.
08:09But it won me over.
08:10It's a good, I had a good time with it.
08:13I was shocked by how brutal some of the action sequences were.
08:17Me too.
08:17Because they're making jokes about, you know, like so silly.
08:21And then He-Man's savaging dudes.
08:23And it's like, whoa.
08:24He beat up an old lady.
08:25Yeah.
08:26Boom!
08:27Like he's impaling guys with his sword.
08:30And I'm like, man, okay.
08:31So what it is, is it's literally motherfuckers playing with action figures on the screen.
08:36There's just fucking color everywhere.
08:38There's fucking machines and fucking vehicles and falling through forests in the sky.
08:43And then he jumps from vehicle to vehicle.
08:45It is literally kids playing with toys.
08:48And I'm like, what more do you want?
08:50And the fact that it's, I was worried that audience would be like, this is too campy.
08:54This is too funny.
08:55They're not taking it serious.
08:56And I'm like, but it's He-Man.
08:58Like how serious do you want them to take it?
09:01The story is so, it's very tropey.
09:06It's like they got the villain who's a god dang villain.
09:08He doesn't have this tragic backstory.
09:09He's a fucking villain, you know?
09:12And He-Man's the power guy.
09:14And he's gonna get the power.
09:15And he's gonna beat everybody up.
09:16And he fucking does that.
09:18And yes, they make fun of themselves.
09:20And I'm worried that some fans are gonna think, oh, it's taking, it's making too much fun of itself.
09:25And I said, no, I think it cherishes it.
09:29And it embraces it.
09:30It knows it's silly.
09:31When we say, man, I wish this movie would, you know, know what it is and not take itself so
09:36serious.
09:37This is actually what I was thinking.
09:39And Alex makes a great point with the music, dude.
09:41This music is nonstop throughout the entire film.
09:44The guy had a vision for the music.
09:45And I think it was like a-
09:48It is Brian May from Queen.
09:49See?
09:50Okay.
09:51He did all of the guitar for all of it.
09:53I thought it was his style.
09:55No, no, no.
09:55It's literally him.
09:56They have a Queen song in there?
09:58Yeah.
09:58It is, like, if you like Flash Gordon's music, you're gonna be like, okay.
10:01I guess I did.
10:02Because, like, I was, the whole time it was blaring.
10:05And then the action scenes.
10:06And there's throwback.
10:07And it felt very 80s.
10:09Even though Joe's right, it doesn't set in the 80s.
10:11They do do the modern day stuff.
10:13And I'm wondering how that's gonna go over.
10:15The juxtaposition of work.
10:18Adam works in HR, human resources.
10:21I mean, the word human resources comes out of Skeletor's mouth at one point.
10:26That's how serious this film is.
10:28And, uh...
10:29I like that scene.
10:30Those scenes are fucking great.
10:32Me too.
10:32I like those scenes a lot.
10:34Those are good.
10:34I like the funny in the camping part.
10:36And Skeletor's his new boob.
10:39He said he calls E-Man a boob.
10:42And, uh, he...
10:43And Skeletor himself does really silly things.
10:47And he chews the scenery.
10:50When...
10:50Honestly, when he's on screen, I can't take my eyes off, uh, you know, Skeletor.
10:54So, while I was mad at the fact that it's not the original boys,
10:58it's not the meme and running away laughing and stuff.
11:01That's what I wanted.
11:03He won me over.
11:04And, um, I just couldn't take my eyes off him.
11:07And that's Skeletor.
11:08You can't...
11:08You can't stop.
11:09You know, he just...
11:10He dominates the scene.
11:12And, um...
11:14And honestly, I'm gonna say something.
11:15They even kinda touch on the kinda, you know, homoerotic stuff between He-Man and Skeletor.
11:22I didn't think that they would do this.
11:25Because it's movies for kids, right?
11:27No.
11:27There's a lot of cursing in this.
11:29Right.
11:29You're right.
11:29There's cursing.
11:30No.
11:30It's not for kids.
11:32It's for old farts.
11:34I mean, fuckin' He-Man came out however long ago.
11:37You know what I mean?
11:38Yes, kids can enjoy it.
11:39I think they will.
11:40And those references will go over their heads.
11:44I think.
11:45So I think it's okay.
11:47And so I'm laughing about it.
11:48I'm having a good time.
11:49It was a good popcorn flick where you'll have fun at the movies and it's happy.
11:55It wears its heart on its sleeve and it doesn't kinda care about that.
11:59And it's got a good message as well.
12:03And so I liked it.
12:04And I thought the performances were great.
12:07Except for, um, she didn't put in a bad performance.
12:10But I just don't really see her as like evil Lynn.
12:12Um, what is it?
12:13Alison Brie?
12:14She was not very good.
12:15Yeah, she wasn't very good in this.
12:17Material's not great.
12:17I mean, she has the look.
12:18So when she's not talking and she doesn't have the attitude of Alison Brie, then it kinda
12:23works.
12:24But when she opens her mouth and the lines they gave her, it's like Alex said, the dialogue
12:28is not very good in it.
12:29There's moments where they say stupid lines and like Joe is like, man, I wish that would
12:35have hit harder.
12:36Or I wish I would have laughed a little bit more.
12:38Um, but every once in a while they'll get it, you know?
12:41And, uh, and, and so because that charm, uh, shines through, I think it eventually wins
12:48me back over.
12:49I think in the, in the middle, like the second act, I was like, Oh, I'm kind of unsure of
12:53this.
12:54But when it embraces itself at the end and it goes hard in these action scenes at the
12:59end, and then you get the Skeletor He-Man fight.
13:02I was like, Oh man, we didn't really get a Skeletor He-Man fight with Dolph Lundgren's
13:06version.
13:07And Frank Langella, he's so good.
13:10He's so good.
13:10So good.
13:11That man played Skeletor cause his son asked him to, because he was a fan of He-Man back
13:15then.
13:16And we have a new Skeletor and you get the payoff and it goes a step further from the
13:21payoff.
13:21I'm like, Whoa.
13:22Okay.
13:22Hold on.
13:23Um, you know, what are we going to do?
13:25Is there, is there end scenes in this?
13:27And there is, there's like three different end scenes, but not quite hoping to address
13:32what I wanted them to address.
13:33But they address something completely else where it teases that they want to go crazy
13:38with their franchise.
13:38Now, this movie looked the expensive, like there are CGI shots nonstop constant.
13:48Um, especially when they're in Eternia and I'm just happy that a studio was Amazon was
13:54like, yeah, just fucking go.
13:55Just spend, spend.
13:56And so it was worth making all those employees pee in bottles just for a good job.
14:01Amazon.
14:02Yeah.
14:03And so whatever.
14:05And yeah, so I was expensive.
14:07The CGI was great.
14:08And, uh, I thought that it worked and was interesting.
14:12Um, I do wish, uh, you know, something that when they slow it down, that's when I think
14:18it's really working between, between the characters and I needed a little bit more about
14:24of that, but I'm happy they managed to cram in so much because there is a lot of fan
14:30service.
14:31There's a lot of references to, you know, the original and even the meta and even the
14:37memes and then all the action figures.
14:39Every action figure has their own scene.
14:42I mean, for Christ's sake, there's, but I don't, I don't know how many I'd have to
14:46count them all.
14:47So we have fucking, um, that obviously you're going to get He-Man and you're going to get
14:52Teela and you're going to get like Skeletor, right?
14:54And the evil Lynn, but then they have people like, uh, and, and man at arms.
14:59I was expecting that.
15:00And by the way, I just sell, but does a great job as man at arms.
15:04And I like the little character arc that they gave him.
15:08Um, it's very simple.
15:09It's very tropey, but in this universe, it was charming and it works.
15:14We see a little Adam, a little, he's at the run of the litter.
15:19He's a little guy and everybody's always kind of making fun of him or stuffing him in lockers
15:23apparently.
15:25Um, and I think that Idris Elba is the perfect, like surrogate father, not surrogate father,
15:33but, uh, grizzled veteran to learn from that, that, you know, has, uh, some good ideals
15:41and a heroic warrior that Adam looks up to and learns from.
15:44Um, so I thought that was well done, but okay.
15:47We got fucking Visto, Ram Man, Trap Jaw, Zamata, uh, fucking, uh, Mecha Neck.
15:57This Mecha Neck guy, he was so ridiculous, but it worked.
16:01I cannot believe a stupid ancient figure with a slinky neck actually worked in live action.
16:08And I was just laughing and then having a good time with it.
16:12Triclops, Karg, Spycore, Goatman, Pigboy, Mossman is in it.
16:20Hopefully you're not too, too big of a fan of Mossman because that, there's just a lot
16:26of side characters and, and, uh, when the battles happen and they start fighting each
16:30other, they all use their powers.
16:32And that was what was missing from the original, uh, Masters of the Universe.
16:37And, um, of course that one had huge budget constraints.
16:41I mean, that's canon.
16:42That's what did Superman 4 and, uh, fucking fell apart and ruined the Superman franchise.
16:48But, uh, they did not care.
16:51I want to look at the budget here because this was insane.
16:54170 to 200 million apparently.
16:56Let's say it was 200 million because that shit was crazy.
17:00And I'm, I'm surprised that for a dormant franchise like this, that they got so much money
17:05to just do what they wanted and they weren't putting like, it didn't, it doesn't feel like
17:09there's any constraints on the budget, you know?
17:12Uh, so.
17:13I mean, even if you don't break even in the movie theaters, just gonna throw it up on
17:17Prime.
17:17Oh yeah, yeah.
17:18I mean, they spent hundreds of millions of dollars on Prime shows anyway.
17:20That's right.
17:21And so it's like, they're getting, they are in a unique situation where they kind of,
17:24like Apple does the same thing.
17:26They put them out and they're disappointing the box office, but they get people to sign
17:29up for their things.
17:30So it's like.
17:30Or the bread, big red one or something with, uh, the rock.
17:34Christmas movie.
17:35Oh yeah.
17:35Red notice.
17:37And red notice.
17:38That's another one.
17:39That's Netflix.
17:40This was Netflix.
17:41Or no.
17:42Amazon is that one too.
17:43Yeah.
17:44So I guess it's a loss leader.
17:45Well, they'll put this up a later on on Amazon and maybe that's, if it's not doing
17:50well, the box office, I don't know how it's doing.
17:52I'll look it up later.
17:52But, um, if it's not doing well there, maybe it could get second life on, on streaming
17:57because it does seem like they want to set up more films or a universe film or a spinoff
18:03or something.
18:04And honestly, because like Joe said that the He-Man guy, he did a great job.
18:09He's just like a likable dude.
18:11And his attitude in the film is just like Adam should be.
18:15He's just a good, wearing his pink.
18:17You know, the man loves pink.
18:18That's, that's He-Man.
18:19He's constantly wearing.
18:20I thought he was going to do the laugh later on.
18:22Me?
18:22Oh, I wanted the laugh.
18:24They didn't play the song though.
18:25They played the song.
18:27Yeah.
18:27So like, again, so many references.
18:30Um, I guess I was just in the right mood and had a good time and, and I, I liked
18:36it.
18:36So if somebody asked me, you know, Hey, is He-Man worth seeing in, in the theaters?
18:40I would tell him yes, but be ready.
18:42It is a comedy first action second, and they don't take it too serious, but you're going
18:48to have fun.
18:49It is what I would say about it.
18:51Uh, let's go into final verdicts.
18:53Yeah.
18:53Even when I saw the trailer, I thought it was going to be campy and I didn't think it
18:57was going to take itself seriously at all.
18:59Uh, for me, it's above average.
19:01I'm going to go with a six.
19:02I enjoyed like the, the action.
19:05Action was great.
19:06Visual was great.
19:07Music.
19:08Great.
19:09Nicholas did a fucking fantastic job.
19:12Uh, just like, again, I wish the dialogue would have been, uh, hit a little bit harder.
19:16Um, there's no really tension here.
19:19You're just here to have a good time.
19:20Yeah.
19:21So you're just watching people beat up each other.
19:23You don't ever feel like people are going to die.
19:26Yeah.
19:26The sad moments, the sad moments weren't really there.
19:30It's kind of like, just kind of like pushing the story along.
19:34But, um, for me, other than that, like everything else, like the, I kind of wish it was like,
19:42they wrote better jokes or something.
19:44And like kind of, if you're going to go campy and funny, do it.
19:48What percentage of the jokes do you think work and don't work in it?
19:51I think a lot of Skeletor's jokes worked.
19:54Yeah.
19:54Yeah.
19:55Yeah.
19:55He was fucking happy.
19:56Like he was funny.
19:57Uh, some of, uh, Duncan Idris, but I don't know.
20:01It just kind of, the rest kind of fell flat.
20:04It was going like, jokes were going a mile a minute, like, um, love and thunder, but it
20:09didn't work.
20:10That didn't work.
20:11But like, uh, the other one, Ragnarok, that one was very funny.
20:14I was like that shit.
20:16It'd have like those kinds of writers or something.
20:19Yeah.
20:19I liked the action.
20:21Uh, I liked the action a lot.
20:22Um, I liked the performances.
20:24I mean, I don't like Jared Leto and I think he did a wonderful job.
20:27He is unrecognizable.
20:28I can literally.
20:29I thought you said unlikable.
20:30It's like, you're right.
20:30He is unlikable.
20:32Totally unlikable.
20:32He's a fucking weirdo.
20:33And he did a really good job.
20:35Yeah.
20:36And so, uh, so he did great.
20:38Uh, I mean, I, I think everyone but Alison Brie and I don't think it's her fault.
20:42It's just like the, the writing isn't super strong and it didn't need to be like incredible,
20:48but it's like Oscar fishing here.
20:51No, but it's like, some of it is like, come on, man.
20:53Like a second Passover.
20:55We clean up some of these lines.
20:56The second Passover, you realize maybe you don't need this joke here or it's really not
21:00that funny.
21:00Or stop cutting the knees out of a scene where it's like, there's not a James Gunn movie.
21:06You can sit on some of these things.
21:08Yeah.
21:08Yeah.
21:09Cause so it's, there was some good stuff here.
21:13I was in the mood for this.
21:14Apparently I love flash Gordon.
21:16I have fond memories of how bad Dungeons dragons is.
21:20And so like those kinds of things.
21:21And so I was in the mood for that kind of stuff.
21:23And so would I recommend it to you?
21:26It's like, do you, do you like flash Gordon and how goofy and weird it is?
21:30Do you like some of these like crazy?
21:32And it's like, do you want to see a movie that's like Ragnarok, but nowhere near as good?
21:36Yeah.
21:37Then go, then go see this one.
21:39Um, I think it's probably like an eight for something.
21:43What it like for what it is.
21:44Um, wow.
21:45I just wish I just wish it was stronger.
21:50I actually, I just had low ass expectations, I think.
21:54And it met them and exceeded them.
21:56I am also at an eight out of 10, you know, um, for a while.
21:59I was at a seven, you know, as some of these jokes weren't hitting.
22:03But I think that final act, the final battle, those action scenes where they did not, you
22:08know, pump the brakes, they, they, they hit the gas.
22:11And I appreciate that.
22:12And I give you an extra one.
22:14And, and then they, they did stuff for fans.
22:17And, and there's three teases and teases at characters.
22:21I don't pretend to know every goddamn, you know, he main character, but the, well, okay.
22:25Well, I'll talk about it in spoilers.
22:27Um, so yeah, I, I'm also an eight out of 10.
22:31Uh, I think it's a great time at the theater.
22:33Um, adults and kids included.
22:35So as long as some of the jokes go over their head, it's PG 13, right?
22:39Yeah.
22:40Yeah.
22:40Okay.
22:41And, um, yeah.
22:42So check it out.
22:44Uh, you can't go wrong with He-Man.
22:46If you decide to see this one, we'll see a scary movie next and see which one's better
22:49or whatever.
22:49If you can only choose one.
22:51Uh, but if you want to talk a little bit of spoilers and see what some of these inappropriate
22:56jokes were and, uh, what exactly I'm talking about with these extra credit scenes, uh, then
23:02join us in the spoiler section because I have the power.
23:07I can't see my sword anymore.
23:10Okay.
23:11Okay.
23:11Bye.
23:26Hey, welcome to the spoiler section.
23:29So, uh, I was about to give away at the end, the little floaty dude, I don't know what
23:34his name is.
23:35The little wizard hat dude.
23:36Oh, I don't remember.
23:37The floaty guy.
23:38He does the episode wrap up at the end of the lessons that we learned.
23:42Yeah.
23:42Orko, I think is what it is.
23:43It appears to tell the audience a lesson of the movie.
23:46If you have a skeleton face, if you're a bad guy, I do like how, you know, at the end
23:51I roll my eyes a little bit because at the end, He-Man tries to do the, I'm going to
23:55talk
23:55to Skeletor, you know?
23:57But to me, because I don't care so much about, you know, He-Man and the whole thing, I thought
24:02it was interesting to see and I'm glad that they didn't do the whole super sappy thing.
24:08Okay.
24:08I listened to you and we, we, we do our differences and I'll get you next time.
24:13He-Man.
24:13I'd have been like negative three points.
24:16No.
24:17Fucking Skeletor goes, shut up, bitch.
24:19Fucking hits.
24:20He's like, I'm a villain.
24:21I like being a villain.
24:23And then they have a fucking fight and he powers up and they beat each other's asses.
24:27And then, uh, and then, but the He-Man, his power level is so high compared to Skeletor's,
24:35at least when he has confidence and we just goes for it.
24:38Unlimited.
24:38Unlimited.
24:39That's so much so that Skeletor fucking dies.
24:42He fucking kills Skeletor.
24:47It rips his fucking body and skin and muscles apart and he turns into a skeleton.
24:54And yeah, his staff.
24:55And then his head rolls and it's just the skeleton head.
24:58And so I'm like, no, because I like the, he come back somehow.
25:03I don't know.
25:04And then evil Lynn is just, you know, she's just like, uh, running off pieces out.
25:09If this makes money, he'll be back.
25:10If it doesn't make money, we'll never see him again.
25:12Fuck.
25:13And that's the thing that I forgot to mention.
25:16I think this film works as a one off.
25:18You don't need to do anything else.
25:19They went all out.
25:21They fucking killed Skeletor.
25:23They fucking gave you the final battle.
25:25That's a big foot.
25:26The parent, the lineage, everything more to tell everything.
25:31So if they never get to do another one, I feel like they left everything out there.
25:35What I'm saying is other franchise.
25:36Oh, no, we got to save this for that.
25:38It'd be that.
25:38No, they don't save nothing.
25:39They just go for it.
25:41And I'm happy.
25:42And even at one point, Cringer's like, I want armor next, next time in the next film.
25:47But he does get armor at the end, so you don't even have to wait for that.
25:53Okay, so.
25:54Amazon Prime saves the entire movie because.
25:57Oh, yeah.
25:58He-Man is about to, like, once he, he lost, he loses the sword.
26:01So, beginning of the movie, he's a kid, Skeletor takes over.
26:04And they have to ship him and the sword away, otherwise Skeletor's gonna get it.
26:07So, He-Man gets sent to where his mother's planet, Earth.
26:11And so, when he's flying through the tunnel, the sword and him get separated,
26:14and so he's like, he's never had the sword.
26:16Once he finally finds it as an adult, and we kind of spend too much, too long in Earth,
26:20where he's like this HR guy, and it's like.
26:22I didn't like the HR lady.
26:24His boss was like, oh.
26:25Yeah.
26:25It's just, it's a funny for a joke.
26:27But they stretched it out.
26:29This movie's like over two hours long.
26:31Yeah.
26:31It's two hours, 12 minutes.
26:33It needs to be like 20 minutes shorter.
26:35I think we could have cut a lot of that Earth stuff out.
26:37Yeah.
26:37But as soon as he touches it, it sends the beacon out, and then both Skeletor sends people,
26:41and the good people send people.
26:43And so this beast shows up.
26:45And it's only due to an Amazon driver.
26:48I'm praying that Amazon Prime driver runs him up.
26:50Who is probably disobeying traffic laws and speeding.
26:54And peeing in a bottle because he will be fired if he doesn't.
26:57It's Prime.
26:57Yeah.
26:58Okay.
26:58We gotta get it early.
27:01Yeah.
27:01And Amazon saves the day just as they did in War of the Worlds.
27:05War of the Worlds.
27:06This is definitely the better between the two movies.
27:09Between the Amazon's movies.
27:12Okay.
27:12And so yeah.
27:14So Alex is trying to explain the beginning there.
27:16The sorceress.
27:17She's powerful as fuck.
27:18Mysterious.
27:19I don't know, you know, what kind of power she has.
27:22But she's the first one to notice the Skeletor's forces are arriving.
27:25And I love the CGI.
27:27Lasers and shit.
27:28And then the fucking.
27:29And Man-at-Arms has this extended scene where he's training little Adam.
27:33And Adam, everybody beats up on Adam.
27:35And he's like, he's like, don't do your best.
27:38You know.
27:38You have to do it.
27:40You know.
27:40Protect your family and do this.
27:42And then he goes to Adam.
27:42Adam, just do your best.
27:44You know what I mean?
27:45And I like that shit.
27:46And later on, that comes up again in the final thing.
27:50But Man-at-Arms says, don't worry.
27:52I trained the guy as well.
27:53And they have these big buff dudes.
27:55And they all have their armor and everything.
27:57So he had a little Braveheart scene kind of thing.
27:59And I was like, man, this is fucking great.
28:00This is kids smashing their toys together.
28:03Exactly.
28:04He gets flung.
28:05Loses the sword.
28:07And then, you know.
28:08He grows up.
28:10And he's on dates.
28:12Fuck it.
28:12They try to pretend that this dude who's gigantic.
28:15Exactly.
28:16And a handsome fucking guy.
28:17And muscles.
28:18He's wearing a 9XL shirt.
28:21And he's like, I'm weak.
28:22It's like, dude, you're huge.
28:23Shut the fuck up.
28:25Right.
28:25And even when he finally gets the sword and powers up, they even make his muscles bigger and
28:30he gets veins.
28:31They shrink and they use a body double to have him be small.
28:34And it's like, he went from like this to this to this to this.
28:37It's like, it's silly.
28:38But the girls think he's crazy because he's constantly telling the story how he's from a
28:43different planet.
28:44And he needs to find the sword and all of the fucking lore and everything.
28:48And I'm just thinking, this girl, you know, dude's so hot.
28:51She wouldn't even fucking.
28:53But no, they leave.
28:55The comic book girl, he's like stealing stuff.
28:57Oh, I like that.
28:57She's just like, hey, are you single?
28:59Yeah.
29:00Because I was like, how did he get arrested?
29:01Why didn't he get arrested?
29:02And then he gets arrested later.
29:03So it's like, you know, it has that script doctor where it's like, okay, these things
29:07make sense.
29:07And I like it.
29:09So it grabs a he he put out on the internet.
29:12He needs to find the sword.
29:13This internet sleuth guy looks familiar.
29:16I think I've seen him in something else.
29:18It gets $300 to show him where the sword is in the short.
29:22It apparently was found by a comic book store and they put it in Conan's hands.
29:26I thought it was going to be fake.
29:27It looked me too.
29:28It looked fake.
29:29It didn't look real like the real money.
29:31Why didn't make it a little bit better?
29:33It was too silvery or something.
29:35Yeah, it looked too plastic.
29:36But then later in later shots, it looks less silvery.
29:38I wonder if they did that on purpose to make us think it was fake.
29:41But anyway, so he grabs it.
29:43There's a funny scene where he's like trying to take the sword and people are on social
29:46media and posting it and nobody believes him.
29:51But as soon as he does the thing, you know, they call it in and then there's the cops arrest
29:56him and there seems to be something going on in the road ahead and kids, you know, people
30:01are starting to scream and then it turns into an, you know, an epic film.
30:04It's like, oh, shit, this shit is real.
30:06Here's beast guy or whatever the beast.
30:09And he's beast man.
30:10And he's, you know, there's so many effect shots like throwing cars out of his way because
30:16he's getting mad.
30:16He's trying to find them.
30:17They fight him a little bit.
30:20And, you know, I guess the only thing, you know, she obviously she has training.
30:28Yes.
30:29And she's a good fighter.
30:30And she's been fighting back in Eternia where things have gone to shit.
30:34It's a resistance and everybody sucks.
30:37But then he doesn't have training.
30:39So he's not a foot.
30:39So she's saving his ass.
30:41But I guess when he turns into He-Man, I guess he just gets combat experience.
30:45He's using brute strength.
30:47Well, the way he's moving the sword, you have to know how to fucking sword fight.
30:50Well, I think they mentioned a little bit in the beginning because he was fast and he could
30:53dodge.
30:54Okay.
30:55But that was like still when he was like 15 years ago.
30:58When he was young, like 10 years old.
31:01Yeah.
31:02So what happens next after after that?
31:07Oh, she's like, I got my ship here.
31:09And then so they go to the ship and there's people just like in shock that Eternia is real.
31:14Like there's what is happening.
31:16And then they fly off.
31:18And it's just charming because it's so a matter of fact.
31:21Because before they take off, he's like, see, I did tell you guys.
31:25Well, not you specifically, but I told other people that I'm not crazy.
31:30I'm like, this guy's crazy.
31:32But I like it.
31:32I was still on board.
31:34See, there's good lines here and there.
31:36We're not saying that all the writing is weak.
31:38It's just when you see some of these, you're like, that's strong.
31:41Why aren't these other ones at that same level?
31:44How many people wrote this movie though?
31:46Because if it's written by a committee, then someone on the committee is an idiot.
31:49This is what it felt like.
31:50Because also in the beginning, like they had some terrible moments.
31:53And then his roommate too.
31:56Yeah.
31:57Really didn't need it.
31:58Yeah.
31:59So there's Aaron Knee and Adam Knee, these Knee brothers primarily.
32:03But then there was also Chris Butler and David Callaham.
32:07So four people wrote the screen.
32:08I'm going to guess that one, at least one, if not two of them are dumb.
32:12Maybe not as funny as the others or something.
32:14Yeah.
32:15They were like, no, this guy's going to watch The Notebook.
32:17And he's going to get real sad.
32:18He's going to be ashamed.
32:19And then the next one, he's going to watch.
32:20Yeah, those kinds of jokes.
32:21I hate it.
32:22He's going to watch another sad movie.
32:23Rom-com.
32:24I don't even remember which one it was.
32:25He's hiding.
32:26He's hiding his box of tissues.
32:27Shut up.
32:28Shut the fuck off.
32:30Just whatever.
32:30Anyway.
32:31The jokes were funny.
32:32It's like, the other writers should have been like, no.
32:34It had to be the brother.
32:36Yeah.
32:36There's definitely a dumb brother.
32:37And I just love the charming of Adam.
32:40And then he runs into his room and he throws himself on his bed.
32:43He's like a big kid because he's essentially a big kid.
32:46And he's got all these drawings on the wall trying to remember of Eternia.
32:52And that's the explanation the movie gives of all the ridiculous names.
32:57And it's genius.
32:58I thought it was genius.
32:59They pressed that throughout the whole film, by the way.
33:01Maybe too much.
33:02At the end, they're like, what did you think of, what did you call yourself?
33:05He's like, He-Man?
33:06And they just blast him for it's like, He-Man?
33:09So they have fun.
33:11Yeah.
33:11He's like, macho, machismo.
33:13He's like, you're Fisto.
33:14He's like, Fisto?
33:15You fist things.
33:17And he's like, oh, fist things.
33:18And then later on at the end of the film, when they're all captured and they're in there
33:22and he's giving a rousing speech and he's like, you know, Fisto.
33:26And he's like, yeah, I fist things.
33:28They immediately do three things.
33:29But whatever.
33:30It's time to get people on board and fight the bad guys.
33:33Even though it probably would have took him a little longer to convince Ram Man and Fisto.
33:39But they're just on board immediately.
33:41And everybody's like, wow, this speech is amazing that he gives when they're at their lowest.
33:46And then they go and fight.
33:47They had no choice.
33:48Yeah.
33:49And this.
33:51Go ahead.
33:51Yeah.
33:51This one, Tila takes her back to the planet.
33:55It's like, hey, it's been 15 years.
33:57Everything is just shambles.
33:58Their kingdom is gone.
34:00So they're going underground.
34:01Yeah.
34:02It's like, we got to go meet up with these people.
34:04They show up.
34:05They meet with everyone.
34:05I was like, how does Skeletor not find this place immediately?
34:09And I was like, this is going to be stupid.
34:11But then he finds a place immediately.
34:12And I'm like, all right, cool.
34:14Was it Cyclops or something?
34:14He probably knew it was there the whole time.
34:16He just doesn't care.
34:16Because he only wants the sword.
34:19Now that they know, he's like, well, the sword, it's come in.
34:22And they brought him in.
34:23We meet the other characters.
34:25And they separate He-Man from his sword.
34:27He's like, okay, we have to figure out this is a real deal.
34:30And we'll see if you really are who you say you are.
34:33So they put him in jail.
34:35While we're in jail, we meet people.
34:37That sniper dude, I forget what his name is with the little thing.
34:40Some of these Cyclops.
34:42He calls it in.
34:44All the fucking enemies.
34:45Triclops.
34:45Triclops.
34:46All the enemies show up.
34:47Big battle happens.
34:49There's a battle off the screen.
34:49Because this one is them, you know, trying to get out of-
34:55They get put in a holding area.
34:57And it turns out the man-at-arms is drunk.
35:01And he is just in shambles.
35:03Because he failed to protect-
35:05I forgot to mention the king.
35:07The king battles against Skeletor.
35:09He tries a thing and you think-
35:11He might get killed, but he doesn't get killed.
35:13Why did they put him in prison?
35:14Or in holding.
35:15Exactly.
35:15So this is the one thing that doesn't hold up.
35:18It's Teela and He-Man as a head.
35:18Skeletor would kill all of these motherfucking people.
35:21Why would you-
35:21But he constantly puts people in prison.
35:24But as soon as-
35:24But it's a fucking-
35:25That's just what Skeletor does, I guess.
35:27Yeah, that's the evil thing.
35:29But like, Fisto and everyone, they put him in jail.
35:32Why?
35:32Oh, because they don't know who he is.
35:33He could be inspired.
35:34Teela's there too, though.
35:36No, Joe's kind of right.
35:36Because why is it-
35:37Why Teela's-
35:38Hey, I brought you the sword!
35:40Why is Teela there and the man-at-arms?
35:40I brought you the sword!
35:42It's not prison.
35:43It's the room that man-at-arms lives in.
35:45It's literally the room.
35:46They just lock the door.
35:47Because they-
35:48Hey, you locked the door by accident, I think.
35:50Because it's the maid.
35:51It's where man-at-arms lives.
35:52It's like-
35:53It's not-
35:53Yeah, I thought it was a prison cell.
35:56I thought it was a prison cell.
35:56But no, it is.
35:57No, it's just the room.
35:58No, it's just the room.
35:59They just locked the door.
36:00And they meet this robot, which I-
36:03This is the most-
36:04So it's a battle robot.
36:07But Teela doesn't understand that it's a battle robot?
36:10She thinks that it's a maid?
36:13It's been her maid for 15 years.
36:15It's been, yeah.
36:15But it's because her dad reprogrammed it-
36:17A battle bot to be her maid.
36:18Okay, so-
36:21Adam already knows that this is a battle bot.
36:23And apparently, just to re-
36:25He keeps this little control thing on him.
36:28So towards the end of the film, he finally plugs it in.
36:30He tried to kill her.
36:30Because, please don't assassinate me.
36:32And see, that's the kind of jokes that I wanted to hit a little more.
36:36To work a little bit more.
36:37When he's like, you almost tried to kill me.
36:38He's like, I don't know about it.
36:40I didn't see it.
36:41The line itself isn't that funny.
36:43And there was no payoff.
36:44There was no payoff.
36:44Because I thought for sure that he was going to reprogram her.
36:46And then later on in the movie, there was going to be a fight and she would almost kill him.
36:49Accidentally shoot him or something.
36:51Almost accidentally.
36:51And nothing ever happens.
36:52It's just like, why are we setting all this stuff up and then doing nothing with it?
36:56But she's a badass too.
36:57She shoots and does some cool shit.
37:00And in fact, you know, one of the sadder moments in the film was she get blown up by a
37:07fucking big ass laser vehicle.
37:09Trap jaw.
37:10Trap jaw.
37:11But luckily her head was preserved.
37:13And I was like, man, every time a robot character dies, I'm like, don't worry.
37:16Just go over there, pick the chip up and then make a new robot.
37:19And thankfully that's for her.
37:22Okay.
37:23So eventually Skeletor shows up when they're attacking the resistance and he's like, you know, get the sword.
37:30And but he man gets away.
37:33However, he goes to the platform to exit and the trap jaw is blocking the way.
37:39And all of his like kind of goonies are and goons are right next to him.
37:44This is the first time we get the he man with the sword.
37:47They're like, draw the sword.
37:49So he draws the sword.
37:50And because he's in Eternia, because he tried drawing the sword on Earth and nothing really happened except for the
37:58message getting sent.
37:59But he draws the sword this time.
38:00And people are like, oh, shit, because shit is actually happening.
38:03They're looking at the sky and it's ominous and lightning in them.
38:06Bam.
38:07All of his clothes get ripped off.
38:09And he's just straight up naked.
38:11And it's a joke throughout the movie that he's just fucking meat swinging naked.
38:15And like everyone's looking at him.
38:16And then they put the little loincloth thing on him.
38:19Yeah.
38:19She's like, oh, your loincloth's hitting me or something.
38:22But yeah.
38:23And later he asked, like, do I get my clothes bag?
38:26Like my shirt?
38:27Or do I have to constantly buy shirts and pants?
38:30Well, it is revealed.
38:31No.
38:31You get your shirts back.
38:32So you don't have to constantly be like, yes.
38:35Anyways.
38:36So he fights.
38:37Go ahead.
38:38Yeah, he fights Trapjaw.
38:39And I mean, he's strong.
38:41He, like, rips his arm off.
38:43And he's, like, coming into his powers.
38:45He's not super competent yet, but he starts to pick it up.
38:48I love that hero, you know, thing where the juxtaposition of he tries to push Trapjaw.
38:55And he's gone.
38:56And he's going nowhere.
38:57And Trap's just like.
38:59But then when he's He-Man, Trapjaw's trying to push He-Man.
39:03And He-Man's like.
39:04And rips his arm off.
39:05And then uses the cannon and kills all the gunner people.
39:09Rambo's.
39:10And I'm like, okay, good.
39:12So He-Man kills people.
39:13Fucking, I love it.
39:14He kills a lot of people.
39:15He kills a lot of people.
39:16I love this.
39:19That's how you can get Alex to go and hate out of Dan.
39:21Yeah.
39:22And then they escape.
39:24They get in the ship.
39:25But, of course, they're following him.
39:26We get a long chase sequence.
39:27It's like, you know, Return of the Jedi type thing.
39:30Where they're going through the forest and all these things.
39:32Yeah.
39:32Oh, I like that, too.
39:33Like, damn, man.
39:34They are not leaving anything on the floor.
39:36So he gets a fucking speeder bike.
39:38And then he's doing the speeder bike.
39:40And there's just, like, constant chasing explosions and shit.
39:44And then they slow it down a little bit.
39:47Because her ship crashes and they talk.
39:50Yeah.
39:50And there's this kind of will they, won't they moment.
39:53Where he uses his muscles to lift up something that she needs to get.
39:57She little bros him immediately.
39:59Yeah.
39:59Yeah.
39:59And, you know, they have that, he goes in for a kiss.
40:03And she's like, no, I don't like you as a friend.
40:05And this and that.
40:06We're friends.
40:06We're friends forever.
40:08Yeah.
40:08Yeah.
40:08Okay.
40:09So I'm wondering, like, I don't know He-Man lore.
40:12I don't know if she ends up getting with him or whatever.
40:14Or he's more interested in She-Ra when she eventually shows up or something.
40:18I don't know.
40:20But, you know, she friend zones him.
40:22Or it's very awkward for the both of us.
40:24Or they don't want to admit their true feelings.
40:26Who knows?
40:26They can explore that in future things.
40:30But, um.
40:31Skelter comes into the sky.
40:33And, like, he speaks to the whole world.
40:34And he's like, hey, bring me the sword.
40:36Uh, your parents are alive.
40:38And if you don't bring me the sword of a snake mountain, I'm going to kill them immediately.
40:40And he just grabs the sword.
40:42And he's like, I'm going.
40:43Yeah.
40:44And I like the message here.
40:45He's like, you know, I'm going to go protect my family.
40:48And a man should protect his family.
40:51And they don't make fun of that message.
40:53And I'm happy for it.
40:55It's like, this is, you know, a man's job is to protect.
40:59And I like that.
41:00And he goes to go do that.
41:02And then.
41:03He beats a lot of ass.
41:04He beats a lot of ass.
41:05Uh, but first, gotta have the lowest moment.
41:08You know, it's the hero's journey.
41:09So, his fucking sword breaks.
41:11Um, as he's, as he's fighting Skeletor.
41:14Skeletor pumps that sword full of his, uh, you know, uh, staff's, uh, energy.
41:19And you can start to see cracks.
41:21It shatters.
41:22And you're like, oh, fuck.
41:23Well, and, and he's normal Adam now.
41:26So, not he, man.
41:26How's he going to win?
41:27Yeah.
41:28Then Odin shows himself to him and is like, are you the god of hammers?
41:31No.
41:32And he's, oh, sorry.
41:32It was wrong.
41:33So, they're ripping everything off from a bunch of other, you know, better movies.
41:36But, sorceress is like, you have the power.
41:39You have the power.
41:40What was the line that you say?
41:41You have the power.
41:42It's not the sword.
41:43We even do this thing about the coke class.
41:45I have the power.
41:46Yeah.
41:46The vessel.
41:47So, I, I guess his messaging will annoy some people once you have that.
41:51But, you know, it's in line with the character, you know.
41:54And, and so, and his chest glows instead of the sword glowing or whatever.
41:58And then he wakes up, pulls the fucking sword out of him.
42:02And, um.
42:04Beats his fucking ass to death.
42:07Well, Skeletor's.
42:08He keeps holding back all his punches.
42:09Like, I was holding back.
42:10Well, Skeletor's making fun of him.
42:11He's like, you don't have all this power and you don't know how to use it.
42:13You don't even know how to use it.
42:14He's like, oh, I know how to use it.
42:15And then he just savages him.
42:16I just choose not to.
42:18I don't want.
42:18I was choosing not to.
42:19Yeah.
42:20Cause he tries to talk to him first and then Skeletor attacks him.
42:22So he's like, I choose not to.
42:24That's when he beats his ass.
42:25And I like that.
42:26It was a really good fight.
42:27I mean, he beats his fucking ass.
42:29Uh, and then basically, oh, I forgot to mention, um, the, let's see.
42:37Uh, so man at arms was holding off the, the, you know, normal army.
42:42And that's when the robot explodes.
42:44He gets the robot head and, uh, you know, gives Adam a message, uh, before they leave.
42:52Or Adam, he kind of jumps in on a hug between father and daughter cause they have a moment.
42:58And that's like the whole, every scene is deflated by a joke and stuff.
43:03But this one was all right.
43:04Just cause I like Adam.
43:06And, um, but six months later, Eternia has returned to normal.
43:11Uh, and Roboto is back fully repaired.
43:13And then, um, let's see.
43:17The mom is the queen again.
43:18Yes.
43:18The dad died.
43:20And then he brings his roommate.
43:22Just to prove to him.
43:24Just to prove.
43:24Hey, I wasn't crazy.
43:26Oh, you're right.
43:26Yeah.
43:27You weren't crazy.
43:28I'm talking to a cat.
43:29Thanks for bringing me all the way here just to prove that you weren't crazy.
43:32Again, it's that same writer.
43:33It's like, stop.
43:34Yeah, I was like, get on me.
43:36Uh, anyways.
43:37And then, and then Adam does the story about He-Man.
43:41And then they're like, oh, there's a trouble at this one outpost.
43:44And he's like, okay, I gotta do some things.
43:47I gotta do some things first.
43:48And he runs off and Cringer follows him.
43:50And he's like, oh, man.
43:51And then Tila and Duncan are all like, we know, we know he runs off to change.
43:57This is a reference to all the, you know, lore stuff.
44:01And despite everybody knowing that he's, yeah, anyways.
44:04Um, and they go to protect Eternia.
44:07And then Orko appears, does the lesson of the movie.
44:10And then, uh, Duncan and the Queen wonder when Adam's sister Adora will return.
44:20As she assumes her She-Ra identity in a post-credits scene.
44:26And then Evil-Lyn, oh, I guess we didn't stay.
44:30There's four fucking post-credits scenes.
44:32So if we would have stayed for all the way to the end of the credits,
44:35apparently Evil-Lyn collects Skeletor's head.
44:38I was wondering, because I was like, that's the one thing they didn't address.
44:41Yeah, they did.
44:42You just have to stay all the way to the end.
44:44And she grabs the head.
44:45So, obviously, she's going to reconstitute him with evil, evil, dark magic.
44:50If it makes money.
44:51If it makes money.
44:55Okay.
44:55Okay.
44:56So, what else?
44:58I mean, other than that, I mean...
45:00I just...
45:01I need to delay, because I'm looking up...
45:02The music is so good.
45:03Yeah.
45:04I like that, but I think it would have been way better if we did go back.
45:07If we weren't back on Earth, the 80s vibe, he doesn't have his fucking job at HR.
45:12Like, he's just on the hunt for it to do some fun with it.
45:16I agree that...
45:17So, I don't care necessarily about the time period, but I have the same problem with the
45:20same scenes that you do, where it's just like, it's not good.
45:23Yeah.
45:24Well, it just overstays its welcome.
45:26Where it's like, this movie needed to be tighter, and we needed to polish up some things.
45:30And then we could be talking about, like, a serious, successful...
45:33I don't mean serious like this movie, I'm going to be taking it seriously.
45:36Yeah, yeah.
45:36But I mean, like, a successful movie, where like, I would have no problem recommending
45:40this to, you know, anyone on the street.
45:42Now I'm going to have to give you a little survey first, and then...
45:45Yeah.
45:45Oof!
45:47Uh-oh.
45:48Well, it's Thursday, but it's...
45:50Oof!
45:50Tracking's probably bad.
45:51Real bad.
45:52Well, there was just like, nobody in our theater.
45:54The guy behind us kept yawning.
45:57I think there was a guy sleeping.
45:58I think the guy was just trying to make noise.
46:00Yeah.
46:00He was making a lot of noise.
46:03I didn't hear it, otherwise I would have told him, shut the fuck up.
46:06I hope you're ready for tonight.
46:08Tonight's going to be so bad.
46:09We'll see.
46:10It's tracking right now, domestic weekend opening of 25 to 35 million.
46:15That's not good.
46:16It needs 400 million to break even...
46:19400 million globally, you know, because of the budget of 170 to 200.
46:25So this is only...
46:26This is like a 15% of the Rings of Power.
46:28That's nothing.
46:28For Amazon.
46:29Real soft opening.
46:32It's not...
46:33This is not going to get a sequel with that kind of stuff.
46:37International would have to save its fucking ass.
46:39Or word of mouth would have to like, really pump up next week.
46:42You know, but I don't know.
46:43Backrooms.
46:43Backrooms.
46:45Backrooms.
46:45Backrooms.
46:46Backrooms and Obsession.
46:47And those films cost, you know, a fucking fourth of this is budget.
46:52And it just shows you like, you know, if you can get the millennials out, you get the
46:56zoomers out.
46:56If you can get all the younger audiences out.
46:59I guess because it's such an old franchise.
47:02It is.
47:02Yes.
47:02The people didn't come out to support it.
47:04Maybe the old parts.
47:04It's probably very popular, but I don't know.
47:06So it's probably going to be another bomb.
47:09Ninja Turtles.
47:10Which is a shame.
47:13Whatever.
47:13I don't give a fuck.
47:14I enjoyed it.
47:15I thought it was fun.
47:16And, you know, I would watch it again.
47:20So that sucks.
47:22Grab a bunch of beers and you'll have a great time.
47:25Preferably the beers before you get to the movie theater, because everything's too expensive
47:28in the movie theater.
47:29It is.
47:29While it's competition this week, Scary Movie is nearing a 50 million mark while this
47:35one's tracking 25 to 30.
47:37So Scary Movie is kicking its ass.
47:39Backrooms is eyeing another 30 million.
47:42So about as much as this one.
47:44And Obsession is about 27 million.
47:47And so Masters of the Universe could potentially debut in fourth place on its opening weekend.
47:56I think I think it'll do third place or second place.
47:59I don't think I think Obsession's been out for too long.
48:02It's probably coming out.
48:03I just saw Rotten Tomatoes.
48:05What's the Rotten Tomatoes score?
48:06For Scary Movie.
48:07Oh, yeah.
48:08Oh.
48:0831.
48:09What's the Rotten Tomatoes for this?
48:10I don't know.
48:11Okay.
48:13So that's going up because it was lower than that before.
48:15Let's see.
48:18But all of those movies have always had really low.
48:2173.
48:22Okay.
48:2273 critics.
48:23Yeah, that seems right.
48:2490 audience.
48:2789 audience now.
48:29Okay.
48:29Anyways.
48:30We'll see because I was more excited to go see a scary movie.
48:33Hold on.
48:33How can I miss this?
48:36Dolph Lundgren's in the film.
48:37There's a fucking cameo from Dolph Lundgren.
48:40And he kind of hands the torch off to him.
48:43He's working out while they're working out.
48:46And he's like, do you have any advice for me?
48:48Because they're like talking about it, but yet not talking about it.
48:51I loved it.
48:52And then he does his because the old movie, they have this, you know, peace be with you
48:58or frack you or whatever from all the he's got this thing that he does.
49:02And I thought that was really cool.
49:05Also, I forgot to say the wacky shit.
49:07When fucking Skeletor's fucking with Adam and He-Man, he like grabs him and he slams
49:13him down to the ground.
49:14And I guess he's using sorcerer powers to get into his head.
49:17And he's like, let's see.
49:19And he sees where he works.
49:20And Skeletor comes in and dressed up like he works there.
49:23What other scenes were there?
49:25All the humiliated ones.
49:26So the day he got fired from his job, when the lady walked out on their date.
49:31The date.
49:31And Skeletor is like these people.
49:33Yeah.
49:33And yeah, that was funny and creative.
49:36I like seeing that kind of stuff when they play with stuff.
49:39It's just interesting.
49:42And it gives Jared Leto, Skeletor some interesting shit to do.
49:47I know, right?
49:47Because it's just not even-
49:48Skeletor.
49:49It's not him, Alex.
49:50I know.
49:51I know.
49:51All right.
49:52Anyways.
49:53Well, I guess we won't have to see Jared Leto again.
49:56Because they can't motherfucking afford nobody-
49:59He still is booking roles.
50:00I don't know how he keeps getting roles.
50:02I have-
50:03They hit him.
50:04They completely hit him from all the marketing in this.
50:05They did.
50:06Apparently he was upset about-
50:07Like, yeah, I can't contribute.
50:10I did a great job.
50:11And frankly-
50:11He did.
50:12I mean, look, I'm not saying he can't act.
50:14I just-
50:15No, he did great.
50:16The extracurriculars I go-
50:18Yeah.
50:18I like that one a lot.
50:19Okay.
50:20That's sad to see.
50:22Now, with that soft opening, I'm wondering if Masters of the Universe is going to beat
50:27Supergirl.
50:28Or if Supergirl is going to be-
50:29I think Supergirl is going to be around that same level.
50:31So, I didn't expect that.
50:34So, we'll see.
50:35Or a little higher.
50:36Yeah.
50:37But here's the problem with Supergirl, Joe.
50:39Fucking Toy Story 5 comes out a week before.
50:44And Supergirl gets cut out from the other end by Minions and whatever, the next Minions
50:49film.
50:50She is fucked, Joe.
50:51Kids are going to go there.
50:52She is fucked.
50:53I would.
50:54Anyways, thank y'all guys so much.
50:56We got to go see Scary Movie now.
50:58And we'll let you know about that one as well.
51:02Because we're excited.
51:03These are two, obviously, nostalgia stuff for older people.
51:06Because I like the first Scary Movie.
51:08I like the way those comedies were back then.
51:10A couple of them were awesome.
