00:01The United States launched fresh strikes on Iran early on Thursday in a second day of attacks that
00:07leave a ceasefire and potential end to the war increasingly vulnerable. Iranian media reported
00:14explosions across the country south near the Strait of Hormuz, the same area where U.S. forces
00:19had already bombarded air defense, radar and other sites a day earlier. Iran hit back, saying it hit
00:26two ships trying to pass through the Strait, adding it has again closed the waterway to any
00:31naval traffic. U.S. Central Command denied this, however, saying commercial ships are continuing
00:37to pass through. Iran also again launched strikes on Bahrain and Kuwait, both of which host U.S.
00:44troops, and Kuwait closed its airspace. If Iran does not accept U.S. terms for ending the three-month-old
00:50war, U.S. President Donald Trump said the U.S. would continue its bombing campaign.
00:55Earlier this week, he had suggested a peace accord was just days away.
01:00So, we'll see what happens.
01:07Thousands of Albanians took to the streets of Tirana on Wednesday night for the 10th consecutive
01:11day of protests against a planned luxury development on an inhibited island, demanding the resignation
01:17of Prime Minister Edi Rama. Gathering at Skanderbe Square before marching towards Parliament, the
01:23crowds chanted against both Rama and former Prime Minister Salih Berisha.
01:28The nationwide demonstrations began to protect Sazan Island and the Pishapora area from a project
01:33funded by U.S. President Trump's son-in-law, Jared Kushner, but has since expanded into a
01:39wider movement.
01:40Protesters have advanced five key demands, including the government's resignation and
01:45the reversal of amendments to laws governing protected areas and cultural heritage.
01:50The government maintains that the Adriatic Coast project is transformational for the nation's
01:55high-end tourism market and its push for European Union membership.
01:58However, the European Commission urged Albanian authorities to act without delay to avoid undermining
02:05Chapter 27 of its accession talks, which requires alignment with European environmental rules.
02:11Prime Minister Rama previously stated the backlash is being driven by bots and external forces.
02:16Organizers stated the protests will continue in the coming days.
02:28A week and a half ago, several retired soccer stars who had come to Budapest for the Champions League
02:34final shared their predictions with Euronews.
02:37We interviewed two ex-players from the nations that played in the last final.
02:41I believe on my team, we have a great squad, the collective is very good, inside we have very
02:52good players, we have Dembélé, Mbappé, Olysee, Cherki, so after this we need to put rules on the field,
03:05like sacrifice, like discipline, respect on your opponent, so I believe on Didi Deshaun, the manager,
03:14to send a great message for the group.
03:42The Italians didn't qualify for the World Cup this year either, but 2006 World Cup champion
03:48Marco Materazzi still expects a good tournament.
03:51So, if PLG is a favorite because they won last last year, maybe Argentina won the last
03:58World Cup, but Portugal, Spain, they are very good at that. Morocco too, maybe is a big surprise.
04:06The World Cup kicks off on Thursday evening and concludes on July the 19th after 104 matches.
04:19The New Age Defence Summit in Berlin is all about the lessons learned from the drone war in Ukraine.
04:48A drone was recently shut down over eastern Latvia after entering the NATO member's airspace from Russia.
04:55For the Baltic States, the threat has long been.
04:58a reality. They are therefore investing heavily in new capabilities and defense technologies.
05:05I think the reaction has been actually quite strong. There's a lot of resolve.
05:08You see defense spending going up. You see a lot of new capabilities being developed.
05:13The Estonian military has grown significantly. We have a new transformation command that is looking
05:19at all these new technologies and making sure that we are more advanced and have more innovative
05:24technologies used by our military. So I think the sense very much is that we're kind of looking
05:30the monster in the eye. From debates to practice, the German company ARX is showcasing its unmanned
05:37ground system at the summit. The vehicle is designed to relieve soldiers and, according to the company,
05:43the company has already been used in Ukraine.
05:46The platform itself is called Geryon, because Geryon is the protection of the soldiers.
05:51Also here is a little bit hidden. It has a total capacity of maximum 500 kg.
05:58And it is purely electric. You can see here on the top of the so-called multi-modules.
06:24The war in Ukraine has shown how quickly modern warfare is changing drones, autonomous systems and
06:33new software solutions are being further developed and deployed directly on the front line within
06:39just a few months. At the summit, politicians, military personnel and companies are therefore
06:45not only discussing increased defense spending, but also how these resources are being used.
06:52Germany is doing good, but on the other hand, Germany spends only 2% of overall budget
06:59to new solutions to drone industry. The percentage is so small and it's important to rethink this
07:05approach. I'm not telling you that Germany should allocate 100% of the money to new
07:10industry. It's important to find this balance.
07:21Lisbon's most anticipated festivals are back, filling the streets with color,
07:25popular music and traditional Portuguese food.
07:28Entre o cheiro, a sardinha assada, music and convívio,
No caso,
08:04a gente é estrangeiro e nós adoramos vir viver os lugares de forma que eles existem,
08:13do jeito que eles são.
08:13Every year, the popular Saints Festival continues to attract thousands of visitors,
08:18but despite the passage of time, some elements remain unchanged.
09:50They help, but more effort is needed to actually put this to a stop.
10:08We place a tube at the bottom of a waterway.
10:12There's little holes in that tube and we pump air through that
10:15and it creates a curtain of bubbles going upwards.
10:17If you have a canal or a river flowing towards the ocean,
10:22you place this bubble curtain diagonally.
10:24We can kind of guide the plastic and other debris towards the side of the river
10:29where we can collect it.
10:32We don't hinder fish, we don't hinder ship traffic.
10:46It really increased our visibility.
10:49Also, a lot of doors have opened.
10:51That really kind of made a huge push for us to go international and bring our solution to where it's
10:59needed.
11:04Our biggest dream would be to go to Southeast Asia, but we really want to have a system
11:09that can function on this high quality on different type of canals and rivers.
11:14So we're kind of continuously improving and we're having good conversations with cities there as well.
11:20So we can help out on those places as well.
11:30They see those kind of popping up on all the crucial places in the world that would be the biggest
11:35dream.
11:35So we could have doors and people do it.
