00:00Tuesday edition of Shine Time, the Knicks' legendary winning streak comes to an end.
00:05Credit the Spurs.
00:06And the Knicks are still winning the entire thing.
00:09Wemby has become an enemy of the stakes.
00:12Mike Brown sounds off of the refs.
00:15And Rick Pitino joins us live to talk about the Knicks, St. John's, and so much more.
00:22Shine Time starts right now.
00:31The NBA Finals, where dreams do come true.
00:34And we're waiting to see who will be the next star to gain Finals fame as we welcome you to
00:40New York City.
00:41And Madison Square Garden, where for the first time in 27 years, a Finals game will be played in this
00:48iconic arena.
00:49Sounds helping out as well.
00:50Once again, inside Wemby.
00:51Yomini throws it down.
00:53Ananobi.
00:54Wemby closes.
00:55Ananobi with the slam.
00:57A thunderous jam from O.G. Ananobi.
01:00Drives Brunson back up top to Hart.
01:02Hart's going to try another three.
01:03Got it!
01:05Josh Hart has suddenly come alive.
01:08Alley-oop to Wemby.
01:09Yom, a perfect pass from Castle.
01:11And a lead is up to three.
01:13Shot clock winding down.
01:14Castle has to put it up.
01:15Bang!
01:16Stephon Castle from three-point range.
01:19Brunson drives on Harper.
01:20Steps back.
01:21Three-pointers up.
01:21It's good!
01:22Jalen Brunson drills the three.
01:25Town's holding on to Wemby.
01:27Fox gets into the paint.
01:28Puts up jumper.
01:29Got it!
01:30De'Aaron Fox with a clutch bucket right there.
01:33And it's back to a five-point game.
01:35Timeout with 12.2 remaining.
01:37We did what we were supposed to do, but the job is absolutely not done.
01:41We're not even halfway.
01:43The hardest is still to come.
01:45I told you this series was not over if the Knicks stole Game 1 on the road.
01:50It was not over when the Knicks left San Antonio up 2-0.
01:54I wouldn't even say it was over if the Knicks went up 3-0.
01:57So, look, broom to bust.
02:01A sweep was always, to me, absolutely over the top in terms of a prediction.
02:09Victor Wemby-Yama has become an absolute villain.
02:13And the San Antonio Spurs march into Madison Square Garden, a night where you had one of
02:19the most incredible Super Bowl meets Hollywood atmospheres you'll ever see, and the Spurs
02:25behind Victor Wemby-Yama and Stephon Castle beats the Knicks.
02:29And here's the deal, and this is what it comes down to if you're a Knicks fan.
02:35A sweep was never in the cards.
02:38And it's 2-1 Knicks, and I still absolutely positively believe the Knicks are winning a
02:43championship, but we have a series, and when you have Victor Wemby-Yama on the San Antonio
02:50Spurs, you have to respect the San Antonio Spurs and their incredible talents and their
02:55greatness, because even though we've never seen a team before in the history of the NBA
03:01Finals lose the first two games of this series of the Finals at home and then win a championship,
03:07no team has ever had this kind of freak before.
03:10So, Wemby was awful on offense in game number one, awful for the vast majority of game two,
03:17especially in the first half and especially down the stretch, and Victor Wemby-Yama was
03:21unstoppable when you look at what transpired last night, and Wemby was great, and Stephon
03:26Castle was great, and the Knicks exploded on offense in the second quarter, and they couldn't
03:33hit water if they fell out of a boat in the second half last night.
03:37The three-point shooting in the second half was deplorable.
03:40I mean, they couldn't get to the free-throw line.
03:43They couldn't make any three-point buckets.
03:45You know, you saw Bridges have a terrible game.
03:49You saw Cat have a terrible game.
03:51Landry Schammett turned back into a pumpkin, and I still think the Knicks are going to be
03:56just fine.
03:57But when you get this from these guys, and you can tell early as, you know, Cat had one
04:02of those games where Wemby outplayed him, and he had all sorts of foul trouble, and, you
04:07know, Bridges was just out of it, and he was in foul trouble from the jump.
04:11When you have this, you're going to have the result that you saw last night.
04:16And when you see Victor Wimbanyama put together this game, and I want to stress this with Wemby.
04:22Wemby had 10 points in the fourth quarter.
04:25Wemby was unbelievable early on.
04:28Mitch Johnson, Stephon Castle, and the Spurs made a major adjustment and made sure Victor
04:34Wimbanyama got the ball in the paint, and he was like he was shot out of a cannon.
04:40He was ready to perform in front of all the celebs last night.
04:43I thought that was a monster deal.
04:46And honestly, Wemby was amazing.
04:50Castle was incredible.
04:51They were the kings of the castle at Madison Square Garden last night.
04:55You look at Stephon Castle and what he brought to the table, it was unbelievable.
05:00And you look at the numbers, absolutely incredible.
05:0323 points, 5 rebounds, 5 assists, 18 points in the first half to get the party started.
05:08I thought the single biggest play of the entire game, 108-104.
05:13And Brunson just hit a three.
05:15And then you see Castle hit that three to have the lead balloon to seven points.
05:24Man, honestly, I thought that moment, the game was over.
05:29Now, you saw OG Ananobi hit that wild three at the end nine seconds ago.
05:35They fell.
05:35And then Castle drains those free throws to ice it if you didn't believe it was over when
05:42he hit that three.
05:43So when Castle hit that three to have that lead balloon to seven and then hit those two
05:49free throws at the end, I mean, those sequences as big as anything as we saw in the ballgame
05:56and the win for the San Antonio Spurs.
05:58I thought that he was terrific last night.
06:01Castle was great.
06:02I thought that Castle was absolutely awesome in terms of getting the ball to Wemby.
06:08I thought Wemby was sensational.
06:10And listen, you look at Jalen Brunson last night.
06:13Jalen Brunson's point total I thought last night was strong.
06:18I would never call his game great.
06:20But, you know, first of all, and this is why we do it in this order, I saw it this
06:25way.
06:25The Spurs earned it.
06:27The Spurs are great.
06:29They were favored for a reason.
06:31Jalen Brunson last night, I thought he was really good.
06:34I did not think he was vintage.
06:36I thought he dribbled too much, dribbled too much into traffic.
06:40And when you saw Brunson's numbers right there, you saw the five turnovers.
06:44I thought Jalen Brunson missed a lot of shots, and I thought he was sloppy.
06:49I thought the only two Knicks who I thought had great games last night
06:53were O'Jana Noby, who was the best Knick last night, and Josh Hart.
06:57Those guys brought A-level performances.
07:00Other than that, you know, Brunson was a B.
07:03He got nothing from the bench other than Jordan Clarkson.
07:07You know, Mitchell Robinson barely played last night.
07:10This was, you know, the good times, the great times, a 13-game winning streak.
07:15That is officially history.
07:17You know, I also thought a big component of this game last night
07:21was what the Spurs got out of Harper and Fox.
07:24How about the Aaron Fox with 33 seconds left sticking that jumper?
07:28That was a huge moment in the game.
07:31And Dillon Harper, I know it says rookie on the back of the bubblegum card.
07:35I just can't get enough of his poise and his defense and his rebounding
07:40and his effort last night, and Fox sticking that jumper
07:43was absolutely huge for San Antonio.
07:47So Spurs came to play.
07:49Spurs were favored in this series for a reason.
07:51I am not in any way, shape, or form backing off my point and premise
07:56and prediction over the last few weeks that the Knicks are winning a title.
07:59I just think anyone who's making parade plans wasn't paying attention.
08:05Look, these NBA Finals have been a banger.
08:08All three games could have gone either way.
08:10You know, for all the conversation of, oh, the Knicks are up 2-0,
08:14the Spurs could have won both those games.
08:16I mean, I almost threw up from anxiety in Game 2,
08:20based upon the way that thing finished.
08:22Knicks needed that Brunson burner in Game 1.
08:24So, you can't be surprised.
08:27And San Antonio's not here for a quick series.
08:30And I know they're young, and I'm picking the Knicks to win it.
08:33But I was surprised how many people were just making parade plans.
08:37I told you, even at 2-0, I refuse to declare this series over.
08:42Knicks are going to win it, but they're going to have to earn it,
08:45and they're going to have to fight.
08:46And, listen, they're going to have to fight Victor Wambanyama,
08:49who absolutely stole the show on Broadway last night.
08:53Watch this play.
08:54This is what frustrated Brunson.
08:55Oh, whoa!
08:57That's, excuse me, that should be a flagrant one.
08:59I can understand why Brunson, and then Wendy's laughing at it.
09:03Jalen, what happened between you and Victor in the first quarter,
09:06and did their level of physicality bother you?
09:10Uh, no.
09:11To answer your second question.
09:14And whatever you saw is what you saw.
09:16We got Knicks fans very riled up throughout the game.
09:18At one point, there was a colorful chant directed towards you.
09:21Um, it seems as though you may be New York's newest villain.
09:26Is that kind of the ultimate compliment?
09:31I guess I'm nowhere near Trey Young level, though.
09:37I don't know.
09:39I think I kind of hate Wemby.
09:40I mean, I think he's become the ultimate villain.
09:46And it's because he's dominant, and he's young, and he's cocky,
09:52and he shoved Jalen Brunson!
09:54And the fact that they didn't call that a flagrant is just absolutely positively insane.
09:59I mean, and Brunson now, that you saw what you saw,
10:03and how do you not call this a flagrant?
10:05And I don't want to hear, well, if you call it a flagrant, then one more.
10:09You know, if he gets another flagrant foul, then he's going to be suspended.
10:12By the way, the league will never suspend Victor Wemby-Yama for anything.
10:16League needs to make sure they overturn that and make that a flagrant foul,
10:19because this, that's not basketball.
10:22That's not 90s basketball, tough basketball.
10:25That's thuggery.
10:26That's nonsense.
10:28And that's how you become a villain.
10:30Now, I thought Shaq was brilliant on this,
10:33and Shaq's been critical of Wemby for how he played and the lack of effort.
10:37We played that clip of Shaq on my SiriusXM radio show last week on Shine Time.
10:42I do think there's something when it comes to Wemby
10:45where he's at his best when he's just over-amped.
10:50We saw this in the Minnesota series.
10:53We saw this in the series against OKC, and we're seeing it now.
10:57Sometimes when he's passed him all the way around,
11:00he doesn't dominate a basketball game.
11:02And there should be at some point, as he matures,
11:05a bit of that fine line between throwing Jalen Brunson
11:08and then being able to dominate.
11:10Clearly, and this is a great graphic by the Shine Time team,
11:16clearly, clearly there are adjustments here
11:19in terms of get underneath the hoop, dunk the ball,
11:23get it down low to Wemby.
11:25Everything needs to be right near the basket.
11:28That wingspan is unbelievable.
11:30And, you know, Cat obviously dominated Wemby Niyama in game number two,
11:34and it was the total reverse and the other way around.
11:38So, you know, everything about Wemby,
11:40and he was phenomenal in every phase.
11:41I gave you his stats before.
11:43I also think, adding to the villain quotient,
11:45he's in Gramercy Park yesterday.
11:48You know, he's drawing statues.
11:52I mean, who let him into Gramercy Park anyway?
11:55And he's just, he's a renaissance man.
12:00And he's cocky.
12:02And he's arrogant.
12:04And you want to take that pencil, you want to break it.
12:07I mean, and he's out there, and he's, you know,
12:11just shoving the face of the franchise.
12:15I mean, Wemby has become a villain.
12:19And so much of this, let's be crystal clear,
12:22is because he's unstoppable.
12:24So that adds to it.
12:26So Victor Wemby Niyama should absolutely take this
12:29as the ultimate compliment.
12:31Because with all the stars, with everybody there,
12:34with the president there, with all the,
12:37we talked to Mike Frances on Shine Time yesterday.
12:39That ambiance, to me, was the best that we've seen in sports.
12:43And Mike agreed, in moment,
12:45that that was the best New York City atmosphere
12:47and arena you'll see in the last 50 years.
12:51And the player who sees the moment more than anyone
12:54was Victor Wemby Niyama.
12:55So that's how you become a villain.
12:59That's how it works.
13:00When you take on New York and those kind of atmospheres
13:04and that ambiance, and you absolutely rip the heart out.
13:08I mean, we could talk about, you know, George Brett.
13:11We could talk about Reggie Miller.
13:14You know, those are the kind of guys that New Yorkers,
13:17they, not Trey Young, who was a really good pain in the ass
13:21and antagonist, and obviously made shots.
13:23It was, we're talking about Hall of Famers.
13:26And that's the track here for Victor Wemby Niyama.
13:28You know, he's out, you know, at Gramercy Park.
13:31He has absolutely, unequivocally become a villain.
13:34Now, the officiating was a big topic during the game
13:38and most especially after the game
13:40as Mike Brown went full Phil Jackson after the contest
13:43discussing the officiating,
13:44specifically the foul disparity in the second half.
13:47We didn't play good.
13:51San Antonio played great.
13:54We could have played better.
13:55There were a lot of things that we didn't do
13:57that we've done, that we did in game one and game two.
14:02But to go 24 free throw attempts in a second half,
14:07that's 48 for the game if you think about it
14:10the way that they called that second half,
14:13compared to eight, all the shots we took,
14:17we got fouled four times roughly
14:21for eight free throw attempts.
14:25Again, I don't complain much.
14:27I never thought I'd see that in an NBA Finals game.
14:30No, that didn't cost us the game.
14:33Turned the ball over, didn't execute,
14:35didn't do what got us 13 straight wins in a row.
14:39That's how you lose the game.
14:40We didn't do what we've been doing for 13.
14:42We decided to do something different.
14:45It ain't going to work.
14:46And throwing the ball away is a clear indication
14:48of how you're going to lose the game,
14:49especially in the playoffs.
14:50So I made a big deal during the next 13-game winning streak
14:54that not only is the play on the court what inspires me
14:56that they're going to win a championship,
14:57but what they do after the game and how they sound
15:00and what they say to the press matters to me
15:03in terms of the mentality for this team.
15:06So I don't believe Mike Brown believes what he said.
15:11I don't believe it at all.
15:12I watched the game.
15:13And remember, yesterday on Shine Time,
15:15I destroyed the officials for game two.
15:18I thought what Tony Brothers and his crew did
15:21with the Mitch T that was eventually rescinded
15:23and the third foul on Cat or the fourth foul on Cat
15:27on Friday night.
15:28I thought that was garbage, sabotage,
15:31atrocious, pathetic, embarrassing,
15:33disgraceful officiating.
15:35I don't think the officiating was a problem last night.
15:37I did not.
15:39Obviously, the Wemby play with Brunson was atrocious.
15:43I didn't like when they said with Champenny
15:47when Brunson was in the range of the shots
15:50and didn't give him space.
15:52That was nonsense.
15:54You know, the Castle play was a bit much, obviously,
15:59but everything else, frankly, was on the Knicks just being off,
16:03the Knicks being sloppy.
16:05The Spurs being able to attack and get to the free throw line
16:08and what they did with Wemby and what they did with Castle.
16:11This right here, that's a bad call.
16:14There were three.
16:15Three calls in the game.
16:16The three that I mentioned.
16:17The others, I didn't have a problem with it.
16:21Not, not, and I'm guessing Mike Brown didn't either.
16:24That's right out of the Phil Jackson playbook
16:27of, okay, let's make sure that the refs for the next game
16:31know that I'm not happy.
16:33Let's see if I can get some calls.
16:35So that's what I think that was from Mike Brown.
16:38I also love how he started that soundbite.
16:41It gets lost to the shuffle with all the talk about the officiating
16:44and what Kat said was genius, too.
16:47Look, the Knicks didn't do what they've been doing.
16:50You know, Jalen Brunson was, you know, frankly going in a lot of ways
16:53all Julius Randle on us.
16:55You know, a bit of a black hole.
16:56Ball goes in, never comes out.
16:58And, you know, Brunson was playing a lot of one-on-one,
17:01and the offense didn't go through Katz, and that was problematic.
17:05And everything we talked about earlier with Shamit and Bridges
17:08and the bench and Mitchell Robinson, and it was just one of those games.
17:13And by the way, the Knicks still had a shot to win.
17:17So if anything, I know Mike Brown does not believe that.
17:22I think he's working the officials for the next game.
17:24And my worry level in terms of the Knicks winning a title,
17:29I'm just not worried because of the way the Knicks have played
17:32the entire postseason, including last night.
17:36Last night was the worst game they played since the night of the NFL draft,
17:40and it came down to the final couple possessions.
17:44So, and they were missing shots galore, shots that usually fall.
17:48They weren't pulling the trigger with the confidence that we've seen from the Knicks
17:52in prior games, prior wins during the 13-game winning streak,
17:56game one and game two in San Antonio.
17:58So I don't think Mike Brown believes this.
18:01I think he's changing the conversation.
18:03So then people like me, internet warriors, you know, talking heads,
18:09everyone focuses on this as opposed to that being the play on the court.
18:14Now all the heat's on Mike Brown, all the heat's on the officials,
18:17instead of Carl Anthony Towns and Mikael Bridges and everything that goes into the mix.
18:22So I actually thought this was a Phil Jackson-esque master stroke by Mike Brown
18:28because I had no issue with the officiating for the most part last night.
18:33Now the star of last night's show, I'd argue, Madison Square Garden itself,
18:37regardless of the outcome for the home team.
18:42Wow, and he up.
18:52I'm telling you something, boys and girls, sports, there is nothing like it.
18:57I'm not going to lie, I got goosebumps.
18:59Yeah, this is special.
19:00Wow.
19:01See, the other part is, guys, like I've been fortunate to play against the Knicks in the final.
19:09The one thing when you're a Spurs and you come in here or you're a Rocket,
19:12your favorite people are rooting against you.
19:15Look at Johnny McEnroe.
19:16That is a different feeling.
19:18You know, you grew up listening to Jay-Z.
19:20You watched Larry David.
19:22You watched Fat Joe.
19:24You watched all of these rappers, and they're all cheering against you.
19:27That is a different feeling, too.
19:29That's a fact.
19:29You're feeling that for sure, but I'll tell you what.
19:31The Knicks are feeling the most pressure to win tonight.
19:35So I think all of that proved to be true, and the Knicks definitely felt that pressure,
19:39and the ambiance was unbelievable, and listen, I could not get enough of what we saw in terms
19:46of those comments from Chuck and from Ernie, and our guy Ben Stiller was there, and Tracy
19:52Morgan was there, and Tina Fey was there.
19:55Derek Jeter was in the house.
19:57Larry David, Chris Rock, Eli Manning, Jay-Z, Johnny McEnroe, Chalamet, baby, let's go!
20:04I mean, it was unbelievable.
20:06Fat Joe was there, Allen Houston, you know, all the former Knicks.
20:11I mean, it was incredible to watch our guy John Starks and Patrick Ewing and Clyde Frazier
20:16and Latrell Sprewell and Marcus Camby, you know, other than, you know, DJ Khaled on his
20:21phone the entire game, which drove me absolutely nuts.
20:24I mean, if you're sitting front row, you know, how are you on your phone?
20:28I mean, my goodness.
20:29I mean, first of all, because literally like this the entire day, you know, and you're
20:34sitting front, you're a Heat fan, taking that seat away from someone.
20:38That drove me nuts.
20:39But that's why I've been saying that ambiance yesterday was going to be the absolute greatest
20:46of any ambiance in 50 years in New York sports.
20:49And it felt like, you know, a red carpet meets the Super Bowl.
20:55That was the kind of atmosphere when Brunson was shot out of a cannon and the player introductions
21:01and the national anthem and the energy early.
21:04And yeah, I do think oftentimes that favors the stars if they're up for it and Wemby and
21:10Castle were for the visiting team.
21:12Look, I think that for the game on Wednesday, there's going to be now more angst at 2-1 as
21:17opposed to that palpable excitement.
21:20Look, Knicks get off to a great start.
21:21You'll get that kind of excitement early in that building.
21:24Knicks fans want to explode, want to have that amazing home court advantage.
21:29But I thought last night was unique and special and as just dreamy as it gets in terms of
21:37a New York City event.
21:39Obviously, though, the wrong team won.
21:41Now, adding to the spectacle, of course, was the presence of the president, Donald Trump,
21:45who became the first sitting president to attend an NBA Finals game.
22:33You heard Mike Francesa say it's on Shine Time yesterday and you heard Mike Breen say it
22:40during the broadcast, Donald Trump, longtime Knicks fan, and the president attended game
22:46three for his hometown team and the team that he has been in attendance for, Madison Square
22:52Garden, throughout his entire adult life, at whatever walk of life he's been in, whether
22:57it's an entrepreneur, celebrity apprentice, you know, his real estate businesses, and he
23:03without question got booed and then took a nap.
23:07He went to sleep.
23:09And, you know, obviously, he was not interested in paying attention to the Knicks in the second
23:15half of the game.
23:16I mean, there was a social media video.
23:18There was Diet Coke in his hands.
23:21Madison Square Garden is a Pepsi arena.
23:23I always want a Diet Coke over a Diet Pepsi.
23:26So, anytime you have a D.C., especially one that's a fountain, a little bit of ice, that's
23:31a big win.
23:32You know, Trump after said, you know, he heard a ton of cheers.
23:36You know, he's playing to the crowd.
23:38Clearly, you heard it right there.
23:40I mean, that was a loud chorus of boos.
23:43And usually, if you have followed what Trump has done going to sporting events, he's been
23:50supremely intelligent playing the home crowd advantage.
23:55He's been in the South.
23:57He's been in college football games.
23:59He has been in Army-Navy games.
24:01He goes to SEC.
24:03He goes to the national title game.
24:06UFC, obviously.
24:07That's one that I think, you know, he'd get a different reaction, and he already has,
24:12right?
24:12Now, you take a look at last night.
24:14I mean, that was the expectation in New York that he was going to get booed.
24:20And you saw the watch parties.
24:22He was booed in the garden, outside the garden.
24:26Of course, there was that element of inconvenience, right, where it took, you know, people a long
24:32time to get into the arena.
24:34The press took a long time.
24:35It's the Secret Service.
24:36Everyone's going to be there, obviously, as they should be, protecting the president of
24:41the United States.
24:42So, the watch party still existed.
24:45They were just in different locations.
24:47I talked to a bunch of people, fans, who were in attendance last night.
24:51They were online for a while.
24:53But the buzz was so palpable in that arena, and MSG from all reports and people I talked
25:02to, once you got in, and it really started moving around 630, it was business as usual.
25:08So, I was a little surprised.
25:11And again, Trump was invited by James Dolan, the owner of the Knicks, right?
25:16And they've been friends for a very, very long time.
25:21Trump is usually one of those who kind of, you know, sticks his finger out the window to
25:26see where the wind is blowing.
25:28Mildly surprised that he picked Madison Square Garden and New York City to make that appearance.
25:35Certainly, you know, Knicks fans not happy that something, obviously, at the end of the
25:39day, you know, curbed the enthusiasm for the team and stopped the 13-game winning streak.
25:45Listen, Donald Trump didn't, you know, control the officiating or, you know, how Mikkel Bridges
25:50or Karl-Anthony Towns ultimately going to show.
25:53Listen, having the president in the building added to the intensity and the feel last night,
25:59no question about it.
26:00But no surprise that Trump got booed, and that was not a light boo.
26:05You know, he said after he heard some cheers, I did not hear what he heard last night.
26:12Donald Trump booed during the Knicks game.
26:14That was obviously the most predictable result.
26:18I got swept one time in my career, and that was in the best of five.
26:22Yes, it was.
26:22But you came out there, you were Mark Jackson, two of the greatest people I know.
26:27Y'all broke out the broom in Phillip Jeffries, and I don't like your ass, and I'll never forgive you.
26:32Barkley.
26:36Off the glass.
26:38Rebound and season.
26:41Rebound Ewing.
26:42And the New York Knicks have won the first round of the playoff series in three consecutive games.
26:56The happy Knicks, the dejection of Charles Barkley.
27:00And joining me right now on Shine Time is a man who's quite familiar with Madison Square Garden,
27:05a man who's called the Garden Home from multiple stints.
27:07He was in attendance last night.
27:09Welcome back to Shine Time, St. John's Hall of Famer, my guy, the coach, Rick Pitino.
27:15Coach, how are you?
27:16I'm great, thank you.
27:18Except for that loss last night, everything's going well.
27:21So, let's start with that clip that was played yesterday on Inside the NBA, and obviously
27:29Patrick Ewing and Charles Barkley going back and forth, and that was the iconic moment as
27:35the broom moment, as it's known in Knicks history, and I remember like it was yesterday as a diehard
27:40Knicks fan, May 2nd, 1989, your bomb squad Knicks, I had the t-shirt, you know, swept Chuck
27:47Sixers, that was a wild finish, 116-115, first round of the playoffs.
27:52You must have really fond memories of that one.
27:55I do, and I was trying to help Charles get off the floor there and commiserate with him.
28:02That was an unbelievable moment.
28:04I was so happy for you and for Patrick that they brought that up last night.
28:08Now, you've been at the Mecca, obviously, under so many different circumstances in your
28:11Hall of Fame career, coaching different teams, home and away, NCAA tournaments, regular
28:17season NBA, post-season.
28:19Now, you were there in the building last night.
28:22The ambiance seemed unreal.
28:24How would you describe it?
28:26It was unreal.
28:27It reminded me like a, oh, a Big East UConn versus St. John's issue
28:33of final.
28:34Every single possession, the fans were up.
28:37I'd say I was on my feet for 90% of the game, and that's the type of magic it
28:44was.
28:45Now, we did not play real well, and I would say that the Knicks were totally prepared to
28:54play against San Antonio on the road, and I think San Antonio last night knew what to
28:59do to win that game from a coaching standpoint, strategy standpoint.
29:03They were extremely physical.
29:05They were banging us.
29:08It was a game like it was when I was coaching the Knicks.
29:12It was back then they allowed physicality.
29:15Last night they allowed physicality.
29:16But we've got to stop blaming officials about how many free throws they shot and how many.
29:20Did they make about three or four bad calls?
29:23Even to the point, what I thought, when they went to the monitor and they came back, I didn't
29:28agree with it.
29:29Even when I watched it again.
29:31Again, the Carl Anthony Towns thing with Wemby, I wouldn't have said that was a foul.
29:37Without question, Castle going into Brunson, and that was an offensive foul.
29:43But they went to the monitor, and that's the way they called it.
29:46So I look at it.
29:48They took out the Knicks offense with physicality.
29:52They got after Katz when he broke out from the basket, and that's when they created a lot
29:58of the player movement.
29:59They took the player movement away with physicality.
30:02It stopped the freedom of movement, so to speak.
30:05And they were well prepared to win that game.
30:09So let me piggyback off a few things you just said, because you nailed it, obviously,
30:14from a coaching standpoint.
30:15So if you're Mike Brown, and the Knicks have been on this all-time heater, this run has
30:20been outstanding.
30:22Is it now incumbent coach on Mike Brown and his staff to make adjustments?
30:27Do they have to get back to the offense going through Katz, which I thought was missing
30:31last night?
30:32Do you look at those prior 13 games and say, hey, this is our body of work.
30:36This is our recipe for success.
30:38How do the Knicks adjust from here?
30:40Well, they tried to go to Katz somewhat.
30:42But they were denying Katz the ball, and then once he caught it, Katz would hold him with
30:47one hand out there, and they would pressure the hell out of him so he couldn't even see.
30:51So I think they've got to start more movement.
30:55So Jalen's not with the ball with seven seconds to go, and he's trying to beat the guy to the
31:00basket.
31:00I think they've got to get into their offense a lot quicker.
31:03The Knicks, when they're fast-breaking, when they're moving the basketball, much better.
31:10Jalen's Jalen.
31:10He can score against anybody.
31:12But they've got to get into their offense quicker, create more motion to their offense,
31:18less dribbling, more motion, more freedom of movement.
31:21So let me give you a take, and I'm curious to get your perspective as a coach, when it comes
31:26to the officials, and frankly, I thought the officiating game two was terrible, right?
31:30The Mitchell Robinson technical foul, foul three and four on CAD.
31:35Last night, look, there were a couple of plays where I was like, okay, that's the wrong call,
31:39and I'm a diehard Knicks fan.
31:41I didn't think the officiating was a topic.
31:43I credit San Antonio.
31:45I didn't think the Knicks played their game.
31:47I got the sense watching it live that Mike Brown wanted to either shift the conversation
31:54or kind of go Phil Jackson on everyone and let the officials know for next game,
31:59hey, we want some calls at home.
32:02What's your take on that?
32:03Oh, without question, he was posturing not for that game, but for the next game.
32:08And I think it's a smart move.
32:11But I do think, you know, the problem with guarding this team,
32:15this team, San Antonio, is going to be a great team for many, many years to come.
32:20Harper is a hell of a rebounder.
32:23He's great going to the basket.
32:24Castle had an unbelievable game.
32:27And I think they're so physical.
32:29You've got to take now their physicality away.
32:32They took the Knicks' physicality completely away from the offensive glass.
32:37They wouldn't let Mitchell Robinson get offensive rebounds.
32:40They wouldn't let Cat get offensive rebounds.
32:42They were very physical going to the basket.
32:45And when Fox beats you down the lane and you decide to help, it's over.
32:50Wemby's going to dunk the ball.
32:51And if you try to rotate from the wing down to Wemby, then they go to the corner.
32:58So they've got to make defensive adjustments as well as offensive adjustments to get the upper hand.
33:03Again, and Mike Brown and his staff are smart enough to do that.
33:06Without question.
33:07And you say, you know, the physicality and take that away.
33:09So how do you go into the lab and do that?
33:12I mean, I thought Mitchell – and listen, Mike Brown is on one hell of a heater.
33:17And he's very much, you know, feel of the game.
33:20And I mean that as a compliment when it comes to what matchups to go with and how to use
33:24his bench.
33:24I was a little surprised Mitchell Robinson didn't play more last night just based upon the physicality.
33:30How do you do that from game to game in such a short period of time, Rick, in terms of
33:35that physicality?
33:37From a game three to a game four, how do you execute that if you're a head coach?
33:41Well, it's not only the coaches.
33:44You've got very, very smart basketball players like Brunson.
33:49Hart is a summa cum laude.
33:51He's going to take – they're going to sit down with that film and Hart's going to say,
33:55hey, we can't allow that to happen offensively for them.
33:59And then OG's very, very smart.
34:02Cats, he's grown immensely.
34:06But they did an offensive rebound last night like they've been because San Antonio said,
34:12in order for us to win this game, we can't give them second shots.
34:16And Jalen was good.
34:18He wasn't great last night.
34:19He'll be great next game.
34:21I think Jalen will be great.
34:23Their defense will be much better.
34:25And the physicality that San Antonio showed against them, we're going to show it back.
34:30This game tomorrow, we're going to be very physical.
34:33And that's how you get calls.
34:36100%.
34:37I've been saying that all day.
34:39I think you absolutely nailed that.
34:41You referenced Brunson.
34:42I use those words as well.
34:44I think it was really good.
34:45I don't think he was great.
34:46I don't think it was vintage.
34:47I've compared him to Derek Jeter.
34:49Now, when you look at Brunson and what makes him so great when it matters the most,
34:54you obviously have seen him in the pros.
34:57You saw him in college.
34:58How do you describe when Jalen Brunson is at his best?
35:02Well, obviously, with the shot, you really have an 18-second shot clock.
35:07By the time you cross half court in four seconds, and then you try to get into it in another
35:11two seconds,
35:12you're basically dealing with a 16- to 18-second shot clock.
35:15And that's where Brunson, after movement, is great,
35:18because he scores with one or two seconds on the clock, as well as any NBA player in the league.
35:25I said this on a little cameo video I did for you guys.
35:29Brunson, I believe, was the MVP of the league this year.
35:32I think Brunson, to put Luka Dacic, who's a great talent, over Brunson first team is absurd.
35:38He was injured so much, so you can't put him over Brunson.
35:42Brunson was the first team all-league basketball player.
35:44I think he could have won the MVP, and OG was the top defensive player, top five in the league.
35:54So Brunson's great with four or five seconds left on the shot clock, beating a guy to the basket, he's
35:59great.
36:00But you've got to get him into the offense earlier tomorrow.
36:03He can't be stuck at half court trying to beat the guy with 12 seconds on the clock.
36:08We've got to get into our offenses a lot quicker.
36:12I'm fascinated to get your take on the ebb and flow of the rest of the series, because I think
36:16a lot of people, you know,
36:17they overreact to one game in the NBA, and oftentimes there's not that, you know, one game to the next.
36:23And I picked the Knicks originally in seven.
36:25I think probably at this stage, if I had to alter it, Rick, I would say six.
36:30San Antonio's got a lot of great players.
36:32I think they're well coached.
36:33How do you see the rest of this series playing out?
36:35Well, I was hoping for six.
36:37I'm in agreement with you.
36:38I look at it this way.
36:40Last night, they were two-point favorites.
36:45The Knicks, I think, went to one and a half.
36:47I don't follow it too much.
36:48I'm sure what people were saying last night.
36:50But they were two-point favorites going in.
36:53And what you say to yourself, well, you're five-and-a-half-point underdogs at San Antonio,
36:57and now you're a two-point favorite.
36:59The Garden's electric, packed.
37:01Why is it two-point?
37:03They had to win that game last night.
37:05It's over.
37:06What's it, 250-0 if you're up 3-0?
37:10But I'm going to tell you something right now.
37:12You've got to win game four or San Antonio becomes the favorite.
37:16So you've got to take game four.
37:19Probably going to go back to San Antonio.
37:21It's going to be very difficult to win that game.
37:23You've got to win it in game six, in my estimation.
37:26But you must win that game tomorrow.
37:28We beat them twice in San Antonio.
37:31I'm not sure that that can happen again.
37:34So we've got to get tomorrow.
37:36Tomorrow, it's crucial.
37:38Now, why I'm such a believer in our team tomorrow is I'm a believer in the basketball acumen.
37:46Not of our coaching staff.
37:47They're great.
37:48Of Brunson, Hart, OG, Cat.
37:53I think they're so smart, they're veterans, that they'll get the job done.
37:58They'll look at the film and say, hey, we can't let them be that physical again.
38:03I think you nailed it, man.
38:04I think that's the game tomorrow at the Garden.
38:06Well, I look the same, don't I?
38:07I mean, identical.
38:08I mean, look at that.
38:09A young Rick Pitino right there.
38:11I mean, exactly the same coach.
38:14How great is that?
38:15Look at these shots.
38:18What are we thinking about on the sideline right there?
38:23I wish they'd go back to suit and ties, those NBA guys.
38:26It looks like practice to me.
38:28It drives me nuts.
38:30I'm with you completely.
38:31Suit and tie for NBA coaches.
38:33A couple quick things I want to ask you about.
38:34I want to get your reaction to something that is really firing me up.
38:39What happened in college football with Brendan Soresby,
38:42who admitted to betting over $90,000 on sports betting,
38:47including betting on teams that he was on.
38:50He's going to be allowed to play quarterback for Texas Tech this season.
38:54Honestly, this to me is a disgrace of epic proportions.
38:57What was your reaction to this?
39:00Well, I agree with you, but let's look at it this way.
39:04Look, if you're constantly selling alcohol to players,
39:09you're going to have some addicts.
39:11If you're in the middle of games and they're breaking in,
39:15FanDuel's breaking in and saying,
39:16the line is this and the line is that.
39:19But I believe there is, you're creating addicts
39:24by the way you're showing it on television.
39:28Now, I will say this.
39:31I can see you becoming a football gambler
39:34because of all day long on ESPN.
39:37All they're talking about is the line and gambling
39:39and who you're picking and so on.
39:42You're going to have a lot of athletes
39:43that become gamblers because of it.
39:47But you can never, ever step across.
39:50Pete Rose, I knew very well,
39:53you could never put him in the Hall of Fame
39:56because he gambled on games.
39:58Now, you can't possibly let this young man play
40:02because he gambled on his games.
40:04But for some reason,
40:06I think that judge is saying,
40:08you have advertisements during the game
40:12from FanDuel, from MGM and saying,
40:15you've got your talent on the air
40:17doing commercials about that.
40:19You're going to have some people
40:21with addiction problems,
40:23whether it's alcohol, whether it's drugs.
40:25If you're constantly showing that,
40:28you're going to have to,
40:29you've got some problems going ahead in college
40:31as well as the pros.
40:33So do you think these sports leagues,
40:36college athletics, TV networks
40:38need to think twice when it comes to getting in bed,
40:40so to say, with these gambling companies?
40:43I think you've got to really make sure
40:45you have the right counseling,
40:47daily counseling and understanding that,
40:50you know, college last year
40:53tried to pass a law
40:54that players and coaches
40:56can gamble on other sports.
40:58And at the last second,
41:00they did away with that.
41:02And I'm glad they did away with that
41:04because if you allow it,
41:06what you're going to do is
41:07a lot of athletes have addictive personalities
41:10and they're going to be,
41:11they're going to be having gambling problems.
41:15It's a strong stuff.
41:16I want to get to your St. John's team.
41:18I mean, I couldn't get enough
41:20when you were able to absolutely have that coup
41:23with the superstar from Baylor
41:24and getting Tunde, who was projected.
41:26Seemed like he was going to be a first-round NBA pick
41:29and then, bam, he's joining St. John's,
41:32which is amazing for you,
41:33amazing for the city,
41:35amazing for college basketball.
41:36Take us through that, Coach.
41:38That was amazing.
41:39Well, I just worked him out this morning
41:41at Madison Square Garden
41:42with three other players.
41:43And he is a physical specimen.
41:46He reminds me of the body of OG.
41:50Unbelievable vertical.
41:51Of all the guys we worked out,
41:52the best vertical.
41:54He's long.
41:55He's tough.
41:56Got a great attitude.
41:59Our goal is to make him a lottery pick this year.
42:02Take him from the late first round
42:04to become a lottery pick.
42:06He's got to improve his shooting.
42:08He's only been playing for four or five years.
42:11So, like a lot of Africans,
42:13they grow up as soccer players.
42:15They grow up not playing basketball.
42:17Now they are playing more.
42:19I think the sky's the limit
42:21to how good this young man can become.
42:23And we're very excited to have him.
42:25And I love it.
42:26And the fact that he chose you
42:28and St. John's tells me what I need to know
42:31about his inner fortitude.
42:33Because he knows what you're about.
42:35He knows what St. John's is about.
42:37So I have to assume that means
42:38in terms of the mental toughness
42:40and understanding your principles
42:42and defense and accountability,
42:44he checked every box for what you need.
42:46Yeah, when we sell a recruit,
42:50obviously he's getting paid.
42:52But he could have got more money
42:54or as much money from other schools.
42:56What we sell is player development.
42:59We're going to get you better.
43:00We're going to get you to reach your potential.
43:02We're going to get you to max out your potential.
43:05And then we sell Madison Square Garden
43:07and we sell our schedule.
43:09Our schedule this year,
43:11obviously your alma mater,
43:12we're going to play Syracuse in the garden.
43:14We're going to play Arizona in the garden.
43:15We're going to play Alabama in Birmingham.
43:18We're going to play in the players era,
43:20which is the elite tournament
43:21of all the top 20 teams out in Las Vegas.
43:24So we sell that schedule.
43:26We're going to play 13 games
43:28in the world's most famous arena.
43:30And when I first took over,
43:31they were playing four to five games.
43:34It's a big deal.
43:35And St. John's needs to be there all the time.
43:37It's part of the fabric and it's what you do
43:39and it's how you sell the players as well.
43:41You mentioned Syracuse.
43:42Obviously, I'm thrilled.
43:43I just had Jerry McNamara
43:45on my SiriusXM radio show
43:46and he was thankful and appreciative of you
43:50and the fact that,
43:51hey, Syracuse, St. John's,
43:53Madison Square Garden,
43:54that I have the chills
43:55even as I tee it up, Coach.
43:57What does that mean to you
43:59and to New York City basketball
44:01and the fabric of old school Big East?
44:04I know we're in the ACC.
44:06Listen, that was the right move for Syracuse.
44:08I still miss the old Big East.
44:10What does that matchup mean
44:11on a personal, professional
44:13and a New York City level?
44:15Well, as you know,
44:16I was Jim Boeheim's first assistant coach
44:19at Syracuse
44:20and it means a lot to me
44:22that we play Iona in the garden
44:24because I try to give back
44:27to what Iona gave me
44:28and the same thing bringing Syracuse back.
44:30I try to give back to the Cuse
44:32bringing them in
44:33because you're going to have
44:355,000 to 7,000 fans
44:37from Syracuse there.
44:39We need to hope that Syracuse
44:41brings it all back.
44:42Look, Adrian Autry could coach.
44:44There's no question about it.
44:46They just didn't have the players
44:49to compete right now
44:50and I'm hoping Jerry McNamara
44:52can do that,
44:53get the great players back
44:55to Syracuse
44:56and I definitely think they can
44:59and we expect a great game
45:01this year in the garden.
45:02I can't wait for it.
45:03In terms of your offseason
45:05and recruitment and roster,
45:07international players,
45:09overseas players,
45:11shift for you, NIL,
45:13getting the right guys
45:14to fit everything you described.
45:15Take us through that.
45:17Well, we have 11 players
45:21from different countries.
45:22We have Portugal, Sweden, Nigeria,
45:26Senegal,
45:28a young man from Baylor
45:29is from a different African country,
45:32Benin, I believe it's called.
45:34We have players from Montenegro,
45:37England,
45:39so Greece.
45:40So we have it all covered.
45:42I'm a big believer in that
45:43and I say this,
45:45look,
45:45I don't care where you're from.
45:47If you're passionate,
45:49hungry,
45:49driven to succeed
45:50and you're a great athlete,
45:52wanting to become,
45:53max out your potential,
45:54I don't care where you're from.
45:57Let's come into Queens.
45:58By the way,
45:59Queens is the melting pot
46:01of the world as well.
46:02That's right.
46:03I agree with that completely.
46:05All right,
46:05before we let you go,
46:06last time you were on,
46:07Sergio Saw pit,
46:08my goodness,
46:09we went.
46:10First of all,
46:11they saw the show.
46:12They couldn't get enough.
46:14My wife and I,
46:14another couple,
46:15we went.
46:16You were not kidding.
46:17In terms of a restaurant
46:19in Westchester County,
46:20as phenomenal as it gets,
46:23I mean,
46:23what an unbelievable experience
46:25that was,
46:25so thank you
46:26for that recommendation.
46:27Yeah,
46:27Sergio's is the best.
46:29The owner's great.
46:30I love him.
46:31I love eating there.
46:33Socially,
46:33it has everything.
46:34It has the ambiance.
46:35It has the food.
46:36It has,
46:37you show up
46:38with a smile on your face
46:39and you leave
46:40with a smile on your face.
46:41Hopefully,
46:42Knicks fans
46:42will be doing the same
46:43coming up
46:44at Madison Square Garden
46:45tomorrow.
46:45And I coach you the best.
46:46We appreciate the time
46:47as always.
46:49All right.
46:49Great being with you again.
46:50Thanks.
46:51This headline slapped me
46:52in the face
46:53to the point where
46:53I was on a meeting
46:54this morning
46:55when the news broke
46:57and I thought it was
46:58one of the satire accounts.
46:59How foolish do you feel
47:00if you're a coach,
47:02an athletic director,
47:03a university president,
47:04a player,
47:05what have you,
47:06that ever just voluntarily
47:08succumbed to NFL
47:10or NCAA sanctions?
47:12If you self-reported
47:13violations in recent history,
47:15how foolish do you feel?
47:17If you cannot govern
47:18the matters that are
47:19in your lane,
47:20you don't exist.
47:21You're just four letters.
47:22The NCAA is just
47:23kind of four letters now.
47:25That was college football
47:26analyst Josh Pates
47:27on the Rich Eisen Show.
47:29Monday,
47:29a judge granted
47:30a preliminary injunction
47:31that will allow
47:32Brendan Soresby
47:34to play this upcoming
47:35season for Texas Tech
47:36despite admitting
47:37to gambling on sports
47:38including bets
47:40involving his own team.
47:41We're talking about $90,000
47:44worth of bets.
47:45The NCAA has already
47:47filed a notice of appeal
47:48in the 7th District of Texas
47:50that signals this fight
47:51is going to enter round three.
47:54Now, the ruling
47:55from Judge Ken Curry
47:57sent shockwaves
47:58through college athletics.
48:00Multiple Big 12
48:01athletic directors
48:03expressing frustration
48:04over the decision.
48:05In fact, memo to a staff,
48:08Georgia forbade its school's
48:10teams for playing Texas Tech.
48:11This was according
48:13to our friend
48:13Pete Thamel over at ESPN.
48:15Big Ten officials
48:16are expected to discuss
48:17in the upcoming days
48:18league-wide mandate
48:20not to schedule
48:21Texas Tech
48:22in any sports
48:24this season.
48:25That's according to ESPN
48:26and three Big Ten sources.
48:28This came in the wake
48:29of Nebraska AD
48:30Troy Dannen telling ESPN
48:32that his schools
48:33cannot schedule
48:34the Red Raiders.
48:36And this is insane.
48:38And in a move
48:39surprising no one,
48:40the Texas court
48:41scheduled Sorby's trial
48:42against the NCAA
48:43on February the 27th,
48:46February 8th, 2027,
48:48two weeks after
48:49the college football
48:50playoff national championship.
48:52And here's the kicker
48:53with regards
48:53to the NCAA's appeal.
48:55All four judges
48:56currently serving
48:57the 7th Court of Appeals
48:59attended, wait for it,
49:01Texas Tech!
49:02So, there's so much
49:04on this, okay?
49:05Number one,
49:06if you read
49:07the court's ruling yesterday,
49:08the judge's ruling yesterday,
49:10he thought that missing
49:11and being banned
49:12from college football
49:13and not playing this year
49:15was going to hurt
49:17Sorby beyond
49:18what he did.
49:20First of all,
49:21that's garbage.
49:22You can't bet
49:24on anything,
49:25any,
49:25it's defined
49:27in the bylaws.
49:28I mean,
49:28Rick Neweisel
49:29got fired
49:30from Washington
49:31for an NCAA
49:32basketball tournament
49:33but it wasn't even
49:34the same sport.
49:34Everyone knows the rules,
49:37okay?
49:37Everyone understands it.
49:38You bet
49:39thousands upon thousands
49:41of dollars
49:41on college football
49:43on your own team,
49:44you're paying for life.
49:45You get Pete Rose'd
49:47and Pete Rose
49:48shouldn't have been
49:48Pete Rose.
49:49He's been in the Hall of Fame.
49:50I mean,
49:50this is the 1919 Black Sox.
49:53This is
49:53Shoeless Joe Jackson.
49:55You can't do this.
49:57And the fact that
49:58Sorby is eligible
49:59to play,
50:00going to be suspended
50:01two games,
50:02Oregon State
50:04and Albaling Christian,
50:06I mean,
50:06I could find,
50:07you know,
50:08ten friends
50:08in the Post newsroom
50:10and we could beat
50:11Albaling Christian.
50:12I mean,
50:12that is despicable.
50:15Honestly,
50:16and here's another thing
50:17that not enough people
50:18are talking about.
50:20Soresby's not
50:21learning anything.
50:22He's clearly
50:23a gambling addict.
50:25Clearly has a problem.
50:27This is a first-round
50:28quarterback talent
50:29and he was
50:30more than willing
50:31to throw it all away,
50:32piss it all away,
50:33to wager
50:34on his own team
50:36and wager
50:36on college football.
50:37He needed
50:38to learn something.
50:40And I don't want to hear,
50:41well,
50:41it was too stiff
50:42of a penalty,
50:43he was going to go
50:43into the supplemental draft.
50:45It's been a shine time topic.
50:47We talked about
50:47whether or not
50:48the Jets
50:49or other teams,
50:50I listed six teams
50:51that you consider
50:52Sorby this summer
50:54for the NFL.
50:56If,
50:56remember my words,
50:58he checked out
50:59that he knew
51:00what was wrong
51:02in terms of his
51:03gambling habit
51:04and addiction
51:04and that's what this is.
51:06So the fact
51:07that he can do this
51:09and he can play
51:10this year,
51:11just,
51:11it's sick, Nick.
51:13And I'm telling you,
51:14I love what these
51:15athletic directors
51:15are doing.
51:16They're basically
51:17telling the school,
51:18go to health.
51:19We don't want to play you.
51:20We're not scheduling you.
51:21This is an embarrassment.
51:23An absolute embarrassment.
51:25And, you know,
51:26you almost want to say,
51:28rest in peace,
51:29college athletics.
51:30You know,
51:30declare,
51:31write the epitaph
51:32for the NCAA.
51:33I mean,
51:34there's so much garbage
51:35and nonsense going on
51:37in college sports
51:37and college athletics
51:38and college football.
51:40I mean,
51:40all of it, right?
51:42But this takes the cake.
51:44This bothered me
51:45like no other.
51:46When this broke
51:47the ruling yesterday,
51:50you could have
51:50knocked me over
51:51with a feather.
51:52I did not even believe
51:54this was real.
51:55How could you have
51:56the proof,
51:57the admission of betting,
51:59the knowledge?
52:00It's a do and a don't,
52:01and it was don't
52:02to the nth degree.
52:03I mean,
52:04this is like
52:05Pete Rose
52:06has a penalty.
52:07And Pete Rose
52:08should have been banned
52:08from baseball, right,
52:10but should be
52:10in the Hall of Fame.
52:11I'll always argue that.
52:12This is like,
52:13you know,
52:14Bart Giamatti saying,
52:15all right,
52:16you're going to miss
52:16a West Coast swing
52:18to, you know,
52:19L.A. and San Diego.
52:21That's the equivalent here.
52:23What a complete
52:24and utter pathetic
52:26state of affairs.
52:27You could officially
52:29call it.
52:29The NCAA
52:30does not exist anymore.
52:33And I'm worried
52:34for the kid.
52:35He is a gambling addict.
52:37And he was just told,
52:39because you're a quarterback
52:40and you might go
52:41in the first round,
52:42you could do
52:43whatever you want.
52:44That absolutely
52:45made me sick.
52:47But wait,
52:47there's more.
52:51You're so awesome.
52:53Thank you so much.
52:53Thank you so much.
53:00I love Marissa,
53:02Mariska Hargitay.
53:03I think Mariska Hargitay
53:04is unbelievable.
53:05Mariska Hargitay
53:06is one of my
53:07favorite actresses.
53:09By the way,
53:10the documentary on her
53:11and her mom,
53:12James Manfield,
53:13unbelievable.
53:14I think Mariska Hargitay
53:15is a real Knicks fan
53:17and that hug with OG
53:18and she loves,
53:20obviously,
53:21Jalen Brunson.
53:22And Jalen Brunson
53:22has told this story
53:23on his roommate's podcast.
53:25You know,
53:25his parents
53:26and Rick Brunson,
53:28they grew up
53:29and all they watched
53:29was Law & Order.
53:30That's all they watched.
53:31So the fact that
53:33Mariska is such a big fan
53:35of the Knicks,
53:36a fan of his,
53:37I mean,
53:37this is Brunson's
53:38favorite celeb
53:39on Celebrity Row.
53:40And the fact,
53:42I mean,
53:43that you have
53:44that $200,000 seat
53:46and the ref,
53:48look at this,
53:49blocking her.
53:50It's Mariska Hargitay.
53:53What are we doing here?
53:54The ref needs to understand
53:56he needs to move over.
53:59You're dealing
53:59with a Mount Rushmore Knicks fan.
54:02Some of these Knicks fans
54:02sit in front row.
54:04They're celebs,
54:05they deserve it.
54:06You know,
54:06DJ Khaled,
54:07love DJ Khaled,
54:08but he's not a Knicks fan.
54:10But Mariska is number one.
54:12Like,
54:13she's on the list.
54:14Move over, ref.
54:16Nobody wants to see you.
54:18Here's my ruling,
54:19my law and order.
54:20That's an obstruction
54:21of justice.
54:23I mean,
54:23this,
54:24this can't happen.
54:26I mean,
54:27free Mariska.
54:28Let's go.
54:30That's the show.
54:31If you missed any portion
54:32of the show,
54:33just do what I do.
54:34Watch it over
54:35and over
54:35and over again.
54:37On the New York Post
54:38Board 2-2 page,
54:39California Post
54:40Board 2-2 page,
54:41search Shine Time.
54:42See you tomorrow
54:43on Shine Time.
