00:00But I really believe we have a situation where the Rams have made a gamble
00:06that this is their year, maybe next,
00:10and we're all trying to figure out if we believe it will work.
00:19But we understand that it might, it very well could,
00:24because they were already fantastic and added Miles Garrett to the group.
00:28They were fantastic. They added Miles Garrett.
00:31And, you know, frankly, the last time I was here with you talking,
00:34we were actually talking about the Rams in a very different light.
00:37We were talking about the draft recap and what the Rams did in the first round.
00:42And I keep going back to that. And I thought about that.
00:45You know, it's not just me. I see this discord, you know,
00:47across people discussing, you know, this trade of what the Rams could have done
00:52in the first round of getting you a player to help you this season,
00:56as you alluded to, not only this season, but next season in a very short time frame,
01:00because of the Stafford health and really just how much left you have with Stafford.
01:04Getting another player on top of getting Miles Garrett would have really boosted the Rams
01:09to having a phenomenal offseason.
01:11Because we were talking about the Rams having a disaster of a draft
01:14and seeing this Miles Garrett trade has kind of just swept that under the rug
01:18and people are forgetting that they drafted Ty Simpson,
01:20which no one liked except for like two people.
01:22So what they could have done is kind of, that's why I keep thinking,
01:27like, oh, what they could have done.
01:28They could have had another piece to help them this season.
01:30So, yes, the Rams are now operating in an all-chips-to-the-middle type of situation.
01:35And they have to win in this next two, maybe three-year window at most.
01:40You know, the Ty Simpson angle, Tom, is one that I took myself.
01:46And the Rams in trading for Miles Garrett are almost saying,
01:49hey, the NFL is going to actually close up shop within the next year or two.
01:53So none of this really matters.
01:55Except that Ty Simpson deal, which is, hey, you know, down the road,
01:59it would be great to have a Stafford replacement.
02:02And let me tell you, as an NBA guy,
02:06those two timeline things don't usually work.
02:09They just don't, right?
02:11Sounds great in theory, but instead you're kind of splitting the difference
02:14instead of going all in on a direction.
02:17And I know some people said that in drafting Ty Simpson,
02:22they freed up future draft capital
02:26because they didn't have to worry about drafting a Stafford replacement.
02:30I cannot stress this enough.
02:32The Ty Simpson belief, the Ty Simpson fans,
02:37and we all know exactly who we are talking about, okay?
02:41Their selling point is, well, Sean McVay is going to get to work with him.
02:46Well, guys, Sean McVay could have worked with Talon Green in the fifth round, okay?
02:51Sean McVay could have worked with Carson Beck in the third round.
02:55If that's what we're doing,
02:57if we're just saying, get me a player,
03:01and McVay will make it work,
03:03then we didn't need to spend first round draft capital.
03:0613th overall pick on Ty Simpson.
03:09We could have drafted Kenyon Sadiq or Makai Lemon or Reuben Bain.
03:14That's what we could have done.
03:16100%.
03:19And, again, I'm not trying to downplay Miles Garrett.
03:23If they just take Reuben Bain at 13,
03:25they still have Jared Verse
03:26and all these other draft picks they had to send out.
03:29Right?
03:30So, flatly, the Ty Simpson pick
03:34is against the grain of everything else this team has done.
03:39And when people try and defend their friends
03:42and say if Simpson never plays
03:44on his rookie deal,
03:46that's a win
03:47because it means Stafford stayed around,
03:49you're lying to yourself and the audience.
03:52That is not a win.
03:54That is a major loss
03:55and an absolute failure
03:57as a general manager
03:59and brain trust
04:00in the use of a top 15 draft choice.
04:02But we know that already.
04:04We know that already.
04:05So, I couldn't agree more with you on that end of it, Tom.
04:08But where we are with this Rams team
04:11is every single decision
04:13that they make,
04:15it's just pass or fail it feels now.
04:18They win the Super Bowl,
04:20everything was genius.
04:22Do they not win the Super Bowl?
04:24Boy, they've set the franchise back.
04:26I don't like being that simple.
04:28You know this, Tom.
04:29I don't want it to be that caveman,
04:32for lack of a better term.
04:33But that's, I feel like,
04:34where we are with the Los Angeles Rams.
