00:00You mentioned something earlier in the first segment here, coaching.
00:03You think Rob Brindamore is a better coach than John Tortorella?
00:06I do.
00:07I think John Tortorella is a really good coach.
00:09But the difference is I think he has a shorter lifespan.
00:12Torts is one of those guys, if you've noticed, throughout his career,
00:14he comes in for the first couple years and he does a wicked job
00:17and then eventually it kind of wears thin.
00:19Brindamore is a hard-ass too, but his act doesn't wear thin.
00:22He busts them.
00:23Remember that penalty on the embellishment?
00:25He wanted to take that ref and put his meat hooks on him.
00:28I love Rob Brindamore.
00:29He's one of my favorite hockey players growing up.
00:31I still have his cards and he's an intense dude.
00:34But the thing is, they look at him and go, you're a great hockey player.
00:37You're amazing.
00:38So I think a lot of the guys in Carolina, even though he can flip out,
00:42I think they respect him so much that they'll listen to anything Rob Brindamore does
00:46and they'll skate through walls for him.
00:48So, yeah, I think Tortorella is a good coach, but I think Brindamore is better.
00:51Between Vegas and the Hurricanes, who do you believe has the best power play?
00:56I think Vegas' power play is better.
00:58That's another concern for Carolina.
01:00As I mentioned, goaltending with Freddie Anderson being up and down.
01:04Vegas is just, as I said, like, I look at Marner and the things he does on the power play.
01:09And the thing about Vegas, Mark Stone is one of the best finishers in the game.
01:12Carolina, I think, has more depth scoring.
01:13But when it comes to, like, say it was a first overtime, first goal, Marner and Stone, two of the
01:19best.
01:19It's one of those situations, Dan.
01:21And so, yeah, Vegas' power play is more fluid.
01:23They move the puck better.
01:25Carolina just has to stop getting pretty.
01:26And that's the whole problem with these power plays.
01:29These guys back and forth, back and forth.
01:30Hockey's not a very difficult game.
01:32You get a guy on the point, and Gossespierre, for Carolina, is one of the best offensive defensemen.
01:37Fire it.
01:37Even a knuckleball.
01:38Get a guy in front.
01:39Hit a skate.
01:39Hit your tackless.
01:40Just get traffic in front, blind the goalie, and pay the price.
01:44And then you're going to score.
01:45I think a lot of the time it's too fancy, but that's the modern game.
01:48These guys are really, really fast, but I think a lot of the time they've got to go back to
01:52the basics.
01:52Get grittier and try to shoot from different angles and do different things, because weird things happen when pucks bounce.
