00:00Being second on GC doesn't bring much publicity, but what do you want for the end of the Giro?
00:07I mean, for myself it would be nice to get another chance out of the breakaway this year
00:14and go for a stage victory, that's something I am dreaming of.
00:19But yeah, we will see how the stage unfolds.
00:22What has your teammate Luca Mozzato said about this course today and Cadel Poggio before the end?
00:30Yeah, I mean, it's a climb where I have good memories from last year.
00:34It was also in there on the stage where I became second.
00:38And yeah, I mean, it's a climb that also suits me well.
00:42It's not too long, quite explosive. And yeah, it should give me some opportunities today.
00:47So you go away solo on that climb and arrive solo at Pieve de Soligo?
00:53I think to make a difference to go solo on that climb, it's quite hard.
01:01Never before, four Scandinavian riders won stages of the Giro in a row.
01:07Do you want to continue that streak?
01:09Yeah, I mean, that would be pretty amazing.
01:12I saw even more important for me that in the last 36 stages, I think it's 10 Danish wins.
01:17So I think it's maybe turning into a bit of a Danish race and I would love to contribute.
01:23But yeah, today looks super hard.
01:27It has happened before that after Cadel Poggio, it's a bunch sprint.
01:31What are the chances for that today?
01:34Was it as long to the finish back then when it was a bunch sprint?
01:37That's probably longer.
01:39So it looks a bit like a breakaway stage, I think, because of the climb after 15 kilometers.
01:46But yeah, if I get there, I have to try, but it looks very difficult.
01:51Is your mind in Rome already?
01:54No, because I know what tomorrow has to offer as well.
01:57There's still some really hard days, but I would love to be in Rome right now.
02:02You're one of the only five Australians who have made the final podium of a Grand Tour.
02:07What do you think the chances are for your compatriots to do so today or this time?
02:12Well, I kind of hope that Timon can make the podium as well as Jai.
02:16And then we can have an Australian and my teammate on the podium as well.
02:19But I think it will be quite difficult.
02:24Today's maybe a bit more of an unpredictable stage than, say, Friday and Saturday,
02:28because we have the Carapoggio, which is a very steep climb and a very difficult final.
02:33But I think you'll see all the GC playouts on Friday and Saturday stage.
02:37Do you think the GC riders will be eager to let the breakaway go?
02:41Yeah, for sure. I think they would prefer the stage when he goes to the breakaway
02:45and there isn't so much stress.
02:46And we've seen the last couple of days that Johnny in UAE is very keen to take the Chicomino jersey.
02:52So I imagine he'll be trying very hard. The stage suits him very well.
02:55So I expect him to be in the breakaway.
02:57How's life in your new team?
02:59I'm enjoying it a lot, to be honest, mate.
03:01It's a really nice atmosphere.
03:03And when we have a rider like Timon as well as Egon, it's really nice to work with them.
03:08And to have the prospect of finishing on the podium with Timon
03:11is something that's quite motivating and quite enjoyable to work for every day.
03:15You just received the prize for the Super Team yesterday.
03:19In what way do you want to be a Super Team today?
03:23I think we deserve the victory.
03:25We are fighting every day from the beginning of the Giro.
03:29We have to still try.
03:32I think today can be a good day for us.
03:35Hopefully today can arrive the victory.
03:39You say for us. What about you personally?
03:41Is it a stage that is very good for you with a climb before a potential reduced sprint?
03:47No, I think for sure I will try to win the break.
03:50I think it's a stage that I like from the beginning of the Giro.
03:54But it's been hard to come in the break.
03:57Especially with the climb in the Kilometre 20.
04:00For the heavy riders like me it's a bit more tricky.
04:04But for sure I will do all to be there.
04:07And once we are in the break, the brain starts thinking.
04:10Turn on the aggressive mode and try to go for the victory.
04:15You seem to enjoy the Giro.
04:17You probably came with the idea of rain and cold.
04:20And it's beautiful and sunny.
04:22Yes, it's my first time.
04:23You can see the paradise here is a super nice race.
04:27I really enjoy it.
04:30In the second week of the Giro you were busy with several leaders still up on GC.
04:36Do you have more freedom for breaking away in the third week?
04:39Yeah, also not only this.
04:41I also had some other struggles with my crash in Napoli when I was a little bit sick.
04:46So I wasn't really on top of things.
04:49And obviously a lot of other duties.
04:52Yeah, I gave it a shot yesterday.
04:54But I noticed that I was actually quite marked from other riders.
04:58So I tried to help Alex and Mick to get to the front which actually worked out quite well.
05:03So yeah.
05:05Is Cadet Poggio a famous climb for you guys?
05:08It's definitely one to remember.
05:10I tried to put it out of my head actually.
05:13But it didn't work.
05:14It's super hard.
05:15It's super steep.
05:16Amazing atmosphere though there.
05:18So yeah, it's an iconic climb I guess, yes.
05:21What kind of finale do you expect today?
05:24It's difficult to say how the stage is going to be decided.
05:30I think it's a breakaway stage.
05:31And yeah, it really depends on who is there.
05:36And if people are happy to fight it out on Cadet Poggio.
05:40Or if they want to have an advantage and not arrive there with a climbing guy.
05:46So yeah, I don't really know how the final will be exactly.
05:51But I expect a breakaway day.
05:54Your home stage.
05:55Are you excited?
05:57Motivated?
05:57Yeah, for sure.
06:00I really would like to get in the breakaway today.
06:02Because I think there's no team who really wants to take the control.
06:07It will be difficult anyway.
06:10So yeah, I will go full gas to try to be in the breakaway.
06:14Is Cadet Poggio an iconic climb for a rider from Veneto?
06:18Yeah, for sure.
06:20It's one of the most steep climbs we have in that area.
06:25And for sure also the atmosphere is super nice there.
06:28And it's really close to the finish.
06:31So it makes a lot of difference.
06:33Do you train there sometimes?
06:34Yeah, I also checked the parkour in the last 50k a couple of months ago.
06:42And yeah, I know the roads well.
06:47When riding on Italian roads, is it special to be a Milano Sanremo winner?
06:54I don't really think about winning when riding the Giro.
06:58It's completely different races.
07:01But of course when we went to Imperia, it brings back nice memories.
07:06Now you are a helper for Paul Manier sometimes.
07:11Today is it for you to break away or do you still have to look after him?
07:15I think the start will be quite hard.
07:19And I think it's the last chance for not climbing or non sprinters.
07:23So definitely I'll try to keep an eye on it.
07:26What do you think the chances are for Paul to win the Malachi Camino?
07:31I think Narvaida showed that he has very, very good legs.
07:34And unfortunately for us the intermediate sprints are always on the climb.
07:39So not really for sprinters.
07:40So he can take on an easier way.
07:42He can take the points in the intermediate sprint.
07:46So chances are let's say in his favour.
08:17We'd argue the most part, which is true.
08:18So like giving it up on his honour!
08:26And he'll make me Erie!
08:27And descub lemon, I call the only picture.
08:33We've added the Warrior of Lemon впet装.
08:33We're ihrem Leonardo!
08:37Grazie a tutti.
09:09Grazie a tutti.
